Nitt Picks Waxes On, Waxes Off
We have a funky new application for creating links posts here at BSD, and this is my first attempt at using it. As such, this post will self-destruct in ten seconds.
The big piece of news is that it's a big recruiting weekend for Penn State, as many folks are expecting a commit from QB Robert Bolden and many other top recruits will be in town, including WR Alex Kenney, DT Evan Hailes, and DT DaQuan Jones. Mike is going to be on vacation for a little while and Kevin will be lost somewhere near Pittsburgh, so I'll be on siren duty.
Alex Kenney highlights:
In scores of other games...
The Bleacher Report previews Temple and calls them a bowl team. Would be quite an accomplishment for Al Golden.
Could high-speed rail ever come to Happy Valley? Probably not, but PSU is lobbying for it.
Penn State Baseball to Play in Second Big Ten/Big East Challenge
Adam Rittenberg has yourthree fresh faces for Penn State in 2009 Good times for Cablevision subscribers
Finally, the Penn State Karate Club takes 21 awards at world championships. Please, Hammer, don't hurt 'em.

What's the difference in this new applicaiton?
Is it something we as the reader would see, or just something to make it easier for you to post?

You wouldn't really notice
When we build the posts, now we really only have to paste in the URL and can also save a bunch of links to a clipboard, so if we want to build up a collection of links over a few days, we can do that without losing any work.
SB Nation makes things pretty easy for us, I must say. They’re always improving.

In fact...
…we’ve had this new thing for a week or two, it’s just my first time using it.

State College High has fake grass.
Ugh.
It looks like they got rid of that weird rise in the corner of the endzone, though.

They've got a university a few blocks away
With an awesome turfgrass science department, and they couldn’t ask the University to help them out with a grass field?

Must be new, I played there in 94...was grass

It was grass in 2001.
I went there to watch a game. Sat behind Jerry Sandusky in the stands. Pretty cool.

Won't happen
Not worth the money it would take to build and electrify the tracks, buy the engines, buy the cars, and whatever else I’m forgetting. Along with maintenance.
Then again, AMTRAK hasn’t made a dime…possibly ever, so why not?

What I would have liked to say was:
“There’s no way it make sense to build a high-speed line to State College. Any high-speed train is going to connect Philidelphia-Harrisburg and Pittsburgh-Harrisburg. While I’d like to see a local spur up from Harrisburg, I’d be satisfied with a direct bus route that didn’t stop on the way.
On the other hand…" and insert the snark here.
Apologies for the contentless post above. Consider the following as penance, perhaps:

How anyone voted
other than center I do not understand. I know…I know the one on the right was spooning, but still.

Quite simply
Because this picture hadn’t been found yet. SHE WAS SPOONING.

Is that a sex toy or a can of hairspray on the left?
Either way. Hot.

BTW
Anyone know where Mike’s going on vacation with all of his BSD fortune?
by dawsonPSU10 on Jun 26, 2009 6:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Trust me
I’m not going on any vacation aside from arts fest this summer

Since you asked
Mike is doing a tour of the Northeast to visit family. We’re spending a few days in Philly, then heading down to Bethanie Beach for a few days. Then we head up to Williamsport before returning to Philly to fly home.

Uh-oh
He’s talking in the third person now. Let’s hope his head still fits on an airplane.

More importantly
Can his head still fit inside his grotto?

Bolden
Let’s not fit this guy for a uniform just yet. It is far more likely he’ going to a school where he will be the starter in a year. The PSU starting QB job has a lot of contenders and I would not expect this kid to be content to be a back-up.
