What PSU classics would you like to see?
Yesterday JayPa tweeted that he was filming interviews for BTN Classics: '85 PSU-Alabama and '93 PSU- Michigan State.
My #1 is 1997 OSU. I also would like to see the 05 Northwestern game, '96 Michigan, 1993 USC, and, to be fair, 1992 BC.
Comments
1982 Nebraska, 1983 Alabama, 1987 Fiesta Bowl, 1989 Holiday Bowl, 1990 Notre Dame, 1994 Michigan, 1995 Michigan, 1999 Miami, 2001 Northwestern, 2005 Ohio State (Total joke that they haven’t shown that yet)
P.S. BTN only shows classic games where either a) there are two Big Ten teams playing, or b) the Big Ten team wins over the non-con opponent. So, no ’92 BC.

I was just thinking about that UVA game
Just a couple days ago, I was looking for a clip of Mills’ fumble at the end of the game, so I could see if it was as terrible of a call as I thought it was at the time. I couldn’t find one though. Oh well, I’ll just trust my memory and continue to believe that we got robbed in that one.
It was fumble
and it was crushing.

I was there with
a bunch of UVA folks. I seriously regret my taunting of them during the first half.
Although I did compliment them multiple times on the niceness of their pretty miniature stadium.

I absolutely agree. How they havn’t showed that game yet is absolutely beyond imagination.
Let's Go State
I feel like such a horrible die-hard fan
but other than the highlights, and the fumble, and a few other key plays, I still haven’t seen the game in it’s entirety. I would have been there to see it in person, but I had to take the goddamn, fucking SAT’s that saturday, so my Dad took my sister in my place, then I missed it on TV. Not going to that game is near the top of my list of things I will never forgive myself for, even though my parents wouldn’t have ever let me blow off taking the SATs after already paying for it
that is also the one game I wish I had gone too
but at least I saw it on TV, and immediately after the game ended, my friend and I discussed going to the Michigan game, and he took leave from the Army, flew out from Germany on Friday night, and flew back to Germany on Sunday morning. Sucks the refs stole that game from us, but hey, at least this year (2008) we didn’t even let the refs have a chance.

ahh wow.
That blows. You can download the whole game from tenyardtorrents.com if you want. I know at the very least, I’m still seeding the torrent.
Let's Go State
hey, how do you "seed" and "upload" videos/torrents
I’m sure I could figure it out if I tried, but since I only ever just download the stuff (and let them run so others can download from me after) I’ve never bothered to try. All I know is that for some reason that game doesn’t connect anymore (different torrent/tracker or something?) for me (a couple other games do that as well). Plus I figure if I ever want to upload a game that isn’t on there anymore, for someone.
Also, some of the other games people are wanting to see are up on tenyardtorrents.com

I'm really not too sure.
I’m no expert on torrents by any means. From what I’ve read on that site, it seems as if you just have to keep letting a game be available for seeding. Then somehow the website knows if you let someone download the whole game from you. As I type that, I realize (as an IST major) it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I’m sure if we’d take the time to read all the tutorials on that site we could figure it out.
If anyone is interested in just that game though, let me know and I can arrange to get you a copy. What would be really epic, would be if we could organize a Penn State-only ten yard torrent. It wouldn’t have to be just football, it could be all sports. Of course there is that whole copyright issue…..
Let's Go State
I’ve read a few things about torrent, but I still have no idea how it works.

like as long as you have the torrent client "open"
and have the file available for download, then anyone with that specific torrent can download it, but it seems as if the tracker will stop tracking certain torrents (perhaps after someone removes it, or if everyone stops seeding it, or perhaps after a certain time frame…I don’t know), or that specific torrent is removed from the download section. In that case I can make my file available, but no one can download the torrent anymore, or connect to my client, and so it is useless unless I can re-seed the actual torrent to the tracker.
I think that makes sense, but it is a bit of a ramble. By the way, as far as I understand it, the torrent is just the file that allows you to connect to the tracker in order to down/upload the actual file.

My in-conference list by school
Given that this is for BTN, these are games that may actually end up as PSU losses.
1) Michigan: PSU loss in 2005. The greatest game this decade that no one saw due to the Brady Quinn push game.
2) Ohio State: PSU win in 1994. The most dominant offensive performance by a Big Ten squad since the conference expanded to 11 teams. (Also 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009)
3) Wisconsin: PSU win in 1996. For some reason I can’t find a seminal game featuring Wiscy and the Nitts. This one was fairly close and did have a good balance of scoring and defensive stops.
4) Iowa: PSU loss in 2009. Very close second: 2002.
5) Michigan State: PSU win in 2002. Larry Johnson runs for 900 yards before getting pulled early in the second half. They can just show the first half and move on to different programming then.
6) Illinois: PSU win in 2009. PSU and Illinois have rarely faced each other when both were playing well, so last year’s contest was one of the most meaningful. Added bonus of the white out. (Also 2001)
7) Minnesota: PSU loss in 1999. One of the most demoralizing losses for PSU and arguably the highlight of Glen Mason’s career. (Also 1997, 2005, and 2006.)
8) Purdue: PSU win in 2000. One of the few highlights of the year, and a hell of a game against the eventual Big Ten champs.
9) Northwestern: PSU win in 2005. Great ending.
10) Indiana: PSU win in 2004. The only 100% absolute lock on this list. An amazing ending, and the beginning of the rebirth of PSU football.
NOOOO, we lost to Iowa AGAIN in 2009 ;-)

Well he needs to to share those time travelling abilities
so that we can right some wrongs in the past. Namely:
Stopping whoever let Clark play Iowa in 2008, and stopping the weather (or God if you think he is in control of the weather) for those 20mph winds in Kinnick.
Not letting that goddamn referee be persuaded by Carr to add two fucking seconds to that clock that they didn’t deserve in 2005
Finding out who voted for Nebraska to be the National Champ in 94, persuading them otherwise, or leaving their prized race horse’s (or favorite pet’s) head under the covers of their sheets, or just making them an offer they can’t refuse.
Going to 1969 and kicking Richard Nixon in the balls until he realizes that Texas doesn’t deserve to win the national championship, and he should shut the hell up.
I’m sure there are more, feel free to elaborate
Going back to 1994, stopping Kordell Stewart’s hail mary against Michigan (Which put CU at #2 when they lost to Nebraska), stopping Indiana from making those bullshit last second scores, and stopping Tom Osborne from playing his star running back who just happened to like punching women.

Obsucure Games to see
1986 Maryland (or Cincinnati) & 1987 West Virginia. If you think you’re tearing your hear out watching the prevent now, check out those two bad boys. You’ll slit your wrists.
If your going to kill yourself with a loss, 1989 Alabama might be one of the best games ever played at Beaver Stadium.
1993 USC was a great game.

Maybe...
BC was better than us 1984.
If you would have seen Maryland (at like 4-6) driving down the field with a National Title on the line in 1986 you would have had a nervous breakdown. They stopped a two point try on the last play of the game.
And Doug Flutie couldn’t carry Major Harris’ jock, I don’t give a shit what anybody says.

I’m not old enough to remember that game, but would I be wrong in thinking that it was somewhat akin to when Rejus Benn broke like 50 tackles for a touchdown against in ’07? I get shivers just thinking about that.

It's impossible to describe.
1. In 1987 West Virginia had litterally not scored a point on Penn State in over two years. Major was a freshman, I was 11, and I had never seen anything like him before and it was completely unexpected.
2. Yeah, it was kind of like that Benn run, except periodically he would throw the ball 70 yards on a dead run. And it never stopped, my recollection was every play was either an option, or four or five Penn State guys chasing him all over the stadium and 86,000 people screaming tackle the bastard already.
Penn State escaped in 1987. But WVU layed it on us good in 1988. Then he flunked out of school.

Just watched “highlights” of the 1988 Penn State vs. West Virginia game.
Opening kickoff: Eugene Napoleon muffs it, then hits the gas and returns it to the WVU 43.
First drive: Major takes an option keeper all the way to our 40.
First drive: The play I linked to above happened. Man alive.
PSU first drive (I think): fumble.
After the fumble, WVU drive: Major throws a 40 yard touchdown pass.
14-0
Ray Taurasi attempts field goal, blocked, WVU recovers.
Major throws 49 yard touchdown pass.
I stopped watching. Good lord.

He was drafted by the Raiders after his Jr. Year
I don’t think he ever played a down in the NFL. Played some arena ball or something after that. I think he is a HS coach somewhere.
I don't think he played against us his junior year either
My recollection is that he had academic issues, although technically he may not have “flunked out”.

Point of clarification
many of the games mentioned here already are rebroadcast as classics, including:
1994 Michigan
1994 Illinois
1987 Fiesta Bowl
1989 Holiday Bowl (I think)
1984 BC
I subscribe to Directv’s sports tier so I pick up game rebroadcasts on a number of different channels, but I’ve watched all of these games in the past year.
I’m surprised nobody else is with me on 1997 OSU. I was at a number of the games mentioned here but I consider 97 OSU the greatest I’ve seen.

There are too many great PSU-OSU games
I count 8 of the last 16 as watchable-even if it’s just in a frustrating way.

The reason they never show the game
is because other then the obvious highlites, it was a brutal game. Penn State would run three plays and punt, Miami would get a couple of first downs then Testeverde would either get sacked or throw an interception.
We’re talking about a national championship game that the punter should have been named MVP of, no question about it. The game has no asthetic value other than to Penn State fans.

Most of these classic games
whether it be NBA, NFL, etc. mostly involve last second nailbiters. The classic game I would love to see (even though I’m sure the Big Ten had all tapes of the game destroyed) was the Fuckeyes blowout in ‘94. To me, that was just a incredible showing of spectacular talent all coming together at once against a respectable and still overmatched opponent. I doubt the Big Ten has any tapes of this game laying around since I’m sure Dickhead Delaney is still distraught about unwanted PSU laying a horrific beatdown on one of the Big Ten’s flag ship programs (the other being scUM).
hah
I actually considered adding this game to my list but passed for the same reasons
