Phil Steele notes

Phil Steele has us #5 in the country. #1 Linebacker corp with Lee and Bowman pictured on the same page of the 09 preview. #1 in the Big Ten over OSU, with a good chance at going undefeated. And once again playing the Trojans in the Rose Bowl.   #1 Stadium size, is this accurate? thought Scum took back the lead this year.

Sorry to ruin it for you if you get it tomorrow, but hey, that's life. still good info inside.

is it even confirmed that they'll break our record with their rennovations?

I know originally they were only planning on adding a few hundred seats (all/mostly luxury boxes) but then had to drop their capacity ~2000 due to the disabilities act. Last I heard there was some anger that the renovation wouldn’t bring the total back up to be the biggest, and that they should scrap the luxury boxes and put in more bench seating, which the university didn’t want to do because they’d get MUCH more money from the boxes than they would from seating.

Anyway, does anyone know for sure what their plans are and what their final seating #s will be?

I guess it doesn’t really matter anyway, because just like last year I’m sure they’ll cram as many people in on the sidelines and aisles so that they can still have a larger attendance than the also overcrowded Beaver Stadium, and they can always just make their bench seating even more tight (which really is quite a shame, with the girth of some of the fans I see when I go there)

There seems to be an agreement between the schools that Michigan is the largest

Penn State did nothing last year to promote the “largest stadium” thing, they ignored it, presumably out of respect for Michigan. I doubt they would do the same for us, but whatever.

No matter what the true occupancy is, Michigan will come up with a metric that has them being the biggest, and Penn State will let them.

Also...

Come on…have you seen both Stadiums? Beaver Stadium is bigger, period.

While that is true

especially for anyone who has been to both stadiums (I was actually a little bummed when I first went to Michigan Stadium, because I was expecting something like Beaver Stadium in size), I am curious as to what their actual seating capacity will be in 2010 (I tried doing a search and didn’t really come up with anything that made sense).

I’m also curious as to the square footage of the seating area is for both stadiums. It almost seems that if we squeezed our seats as close together as they do that we’d have a capacity of something like 130,000

We’re louder. That’s good enough for me.

They'll break our record

Whatever they have to do they’ll do it. If they have to let the homeless people walking around with shopping carts full of empty beer cans come inside and eat out of the dumpsters and trash cans to break the record, they’ll do it.

Whoever said their seats are tiny is correct. I bet they allot a full two inches less per person than Beaver Stadium does. If we jammed an extra person per row like they do we could add another 10,000 easy.

The thing that shocked me there is that you can’t get up and leave your seat to do anything. If you come back someone will be sitting there.

the "seat" taking didn't really shock me all that much

since in my experience it wasn’ t new people in the seats, just everyone spreading out a bit in the “extra” room. What kinda bugged me was how reluctant people were to scrunch back into their assigned seats (though it could have been because I was wearing PSU or MSU gear)

Joe Paterno has never had a decade without an undefeated team. Food for thought.

Ive been thinking that since OSU '05

Made that fafefaefdvxgr Iowa game that much worse, knowing the years were ticking on the 2000’s…Time for one more run boys!

However

one could argue that those potentially undefeated seasons, 05 especially, we’re stolen from us, so technically we’ve had at least one undefeated season. Not that there was any way they’d let us into the MNC in 05 with an undefeated U$C and UT in front of us. We’d still probably have ended up where we were, especially with us just coming out of the darkness of the early decade.

BTW, a record of 9-4 equals "crappy"?
