Rivalry Esq Makes A Case Against PSU
Got another Penn State Eval for you today from my friends at the Rivalry Esq. Entitled "The Case Against Penn State", it takes a look at returning players and talent lost in a team, and how that effects a team's performance from year to year. While I agree with the overall principles in this article, I'm going to tend to disagree with it's impact on Penn State. The biggest concern pointed out is the losses in the receiving corps, which I will not deny but I will say this: remember when those key losses were freshmen and they brought our beloved Nittany Lions back to life? Me too. Clearly the coaches knew how to recruit then so I have a solid faith that they know what they're doing now as well. And Daryll Clark will have no trouble getting these newbies some pretty passes. Also, there's a comment about his thought that the line with be picked apart that I completely agree with: Picked apart by what?!
Anywho, take a gander and give me your thoughts! Thanks guys and gals ;)

I gave my preliminary opposing argument
mostly, it’s that they’re full of shit.

It's such a cursory argument
It’s a drive by analysis disguised as an in-depth analysis. Yeah they don’t have a lot of starts but look at the experience, the talent, and other factors to determine it. I think everyone is just excited at the idea that it might not be a PSU v. OSU B10 this year.

Crap
Even hinting to a loss to Minny is laughable. People need to actually pay attention to what they did last year. I think any of our problems currently that become a problem in the season would be offset by the skill levels of our opponents. No one is going to be absolutely dominant against us except OSU and maybe Iowa.

Let them say what they want.
In all honesty, the guys over at the Rivalry, Esq. are very respectable and I find their opinions fascinating. It’s all pre-season predictions… we know how those usually go.

Last year with a rebuilt secondary and no Sean Lee on the field, at Columbus, against Terrelle Pryor with Wells, Hartline, and Robiske playing for O$U, O$U scored a grand total of two field goals against PSU. And people think O$U is going to be better this year?
Like someone else said… I love how the past few years people kept saying Butler, Williams and Norwood were overrated, and since they’ve moved on, they’re now saying they’re irreplaceable. Idiots. The talent we’re going to be putting on the field in 2009 might be even better than we had in 2008. As long as the receivers run the routes correctly, Clark will get them the ball.

I just want the season to start.
I’m already tired of speculating.
