AJC Top Ten Coaches List

First off, this is my first fan post, so be gentle with me.

I also live in Atlanta, where nothing outside of the OH MY GOD EEES EEE SEEE is given more than a paragraph in the sports section.  Begin Pity party.

Absolute Jagg-offs Country.com's sports writer Mark Bradley just posted his top ten coaches list.   Thought you may like a good laugh.

He predicts OSU will win a BCS title soon.

Thanks for the fanpost! Please do not post any content from a premium site that requires a subscription. Also, if you just want to share a link consider using fanshots instead. Thanks.

I bet if Paterno could recruit...

….oh wait, Scout has us as the #5 team in the nation!

I am sorry, I hate the guy, but any listing of top coaches that has Pete Carroll outside of the top 2, has no credit.

These lists are always so flavor of the month

Two years ago it would have been Ron Zook, Jim Leavitt, and Greg Schiano. Did these guys forget how to coach in the last three years.

Laughable.

If I described a coach to you by saying, “used to win all his big games; now loses all his big games. I wonder how he’d do in the SEC East. (Not well, I don’t think.)”, would that indicate someone in the top 8% of his profession?

Gradulations..........

I laugh everytime I hear that. God that’s funny.

I am the first to admit that what I don’t know about x’s and o’s could fill a room……….but people like Carroll, Brown, and Miles just don’t impress me. Beamer, Johnson, and Meyer would be my top 3 in no particular order from this list. What Mark Richt has been able to accomplish on the road during his tenure at UGA is worth of top 5 considertion on its own.

Agreed

It also all depends on what you weigh more. Certain coaches are great recruiters and have the talent to let the kids play, other coaches don’t have the talent and coach their kids up in an amazing fashion. What is more important? Showing up mainly just in big games, or just plain old consistency? A coach who runs a clean and tight ship at sake of a few losses, or a cut-throat who pulls schollies and the police in his office all the time. Too many variables.

For me personally, give me a coach who runs a clean program and can consistently get it done no matter what caliber of players he has to play with. I also like Beamer in the top 3 as you said. I also admire the Chris Peterson’s and Pat hills of the world. If Turner Gill can continue along with Buffalo, I would love a guy like him replacing Joe.

OH! FanShots!

Der. I see NOW (from the blurb thanking me for the post, but to maybe to consider Fanshots for links instead…) that there is a thing called FANSHOTS! I’ll do that next time, and thanks for not reeming me on that! I am a virgin fanposter no longer!

I saw that blurb

and wondered where it came from. I swear I’ve never seen it before.
