General BSD Question
I was reading Dr. Saturday this morning to kill some time at work, and I saw that he was doing a podcast with Maize and Brew, so this got me thinking. Are you guys thinking of ever getting into things along the same line as this? Right away, I imagined podcasts between you and some of the other bloggers the week we play their team, and thought that would make for some awesome entertainment. Plus I know you guys would do a killer job with it.
I imagine the problem is podcasts take time and loads of money for the bandwith, but if you put up a donation for podcasts I know I would personally put up my share of $5-10 dollars.
I never really considered this before, so I was just curious if there are any more plans for BSD taking over my life ever moreso than it does now. And if this post is treading on your guys plans or if you don't want to talk about this stuff, that's cool too. Thanks!
Thanks for the fanpost! Please do not post any content from a premium site that requires a subscription. Also, if you just want to share a link, quote, or video, please consider using fanshots instead. Thanks.

I've wanted to do this for years.
And we’ve talked about it. I think it’s a matter of free time and logistics. Every three months, one of us says “hey, we should do a podcast!” I saw that Maize n’ Brew and 11W combined to do a podcast (still waiting for it to be posted, haven’t checked yet today).
I’ll have to check into some of the newer podcast apps.

Yeah we should just do this damn thing already.
I actually have all the audio skillz. The only thing I haven’t looked into is equipment/software to handle doing this over the phone.

I don't think any blogger does.
At least none that I’ve heard.

I have a face for podcasts...
…recorded in a dark room while wearing the mask from “Scream”.

I'm sure all three of them do
I heard they’re planning to sing the alma mater in harmony at the beginning of each podcast.
Good suggestion
If we ever do a podcast, we’re totally kicking off every episode with a song.

It would be great
For me it’s just an issue of not enough hours in the day. I work a full time job and don’t get home until 6 PM most days. We put our kids to bed at 8 PM, so most nights it’s 8:30 until I get to relax. By that time it’s already 9:30 on the east coast and a bit late for us to put together a podcast.
I’m sure Maize n Brew will ask us to be a guest on their podcast. Dave is a good friend of the program and I’m looking forward to it. As other bloggers start up their podcasts we’ll probably be asked to sit in on them from time to time. I could do some work in reaching out to them to get us more exposure.
The other option is one of you readers picking up the torch and put together an official BSD podcast. You could put it together and we’ll post them here on BSD so you don’t have to worry about setting up and maintaining your own website. We would gladly participate and help you get in contact with other bloggers. Now that we’re in print we’re a lot more credible with the athletic department and may even be able to snag an interview with a player or coach from time to time.

You know what's funny?
I read that “we’re a lot more credible with the athletic department”, while I know that there’s about a 50/50 chance someone has posted something about bacon, Zug, or “That’s what she said” in another thread,

I think we shouldn't rest until...
BSD is INcredible with the athletic dept.
A shipment of delicious center cut bacon might help grease the wheels a bit.

Man...I'd actually have to listen to this podcast
personally I’m anti-podcast, as it is harder to do other work while listening (maybe it is just me, but I have trouble focusing on what people are saying, and working at the same time), while I can read snippets 5 min at a time. I also can’t “speed-read” podcasts. So many people start doing podcasts that I never get a chance to listen to, that I feel I miss out on those “blogs”.
I suppose if you guys do start doing podcasts, if you could keep them as concise as possible (is that possible with all the tangents around here?), and either edit out any slow material, or (probably even better), make sure you write a timeline of what is discussed when. I think my #1 pet peeve with podcasts is that there’ll be one “new” piece of information I want to hear (since I swear most podcasts wind up just being recaps of the print articles anyway), but it is a 2 minute segment buried in around the 17 minute mark of a half-hourlong podcast, where the other 28 minutes are just a waste of time for me.
Or if you really wanna be nice, you could write out transcripts ;-)
Wow

See I guess this where we differ
I personally love them, because at work it makes time fly. If I listen to an hour long podcast, I may not catch every little thing but it will keep me interested and will essentially kill an hour of work. I believe this is the beauty of podcasts and I know a lot of my coworkers agree with me.
I like podcasts for say a morning commute
but I don’t really have one. And I can listen to music or something I’m not particularly interested in while at work, but with a PSU podcast I’d be glued to every word, so I wouldn’t be able to get ANY work done while it is on. Plus anything I can listen to in a podcast I can generally read about 10 times faster.
I know a lot of people love podcasts (otherwise they wouldn’t be as popular), but to me they’re not as efficient of a way to get information (except, as stated, when there is no access to the internet during a commute, and one has previously downloaded the podcast).
