Rutgers next on list for college football at Yankee Stadium - What About Penn State?
The Nittany Lions have some history at the House that Ruth Built just as Notre Dame, Rutgers and Syracuse do. Why not talk of PSU coming to NYC? There certainly is enough Penn State support here in the City! Make it happen!

I'd love to see

Too bad it's about to collapse on itself from all the suck in one place.
Half the team would probably get injured anyway.

If they needed convincing about the abilities of PSU to draw a crowd in NYC, they should look at the NIT last year.
Penn Staters belong at Penn State. The problem with a lot of kids is they just don’t know they are Penn Staters yet. -jesse. @ BSD

All I knows...
The JoePa soundbites would be awesome during the leadup to the game.

NYC
I thought I read something a few months ago about the Meadowlands trying to lure big time college football back to NYC. They were trying to set up something similar to the Kickoff Classic they used to host. I also read that Penn State had agreed to play their opener there in 2013, but the opponent had not yet been decided.

It certainly has fallen by the wayside. It will probably be awhile before we hear anything though.

Could this be like
What they’re doing in Atlanta with the ACC vs SEC thing every year? I think that would be a pretty cool way to start off the season.
Giants Stadium
Yeah, I think the concept is to make it something like the Chick-fil-a thingee in Atlanta — a neutral site game to open the season, counting as one of a team’s 12 games (unlike the Kickoff Classic in the past).
It would certainly work in 2013, as PSU has an away game to give (they have UVA scheduled at home that season). If they add in a decent opponent at Giants Stadium, that would make our OOC schedule pretty nice, even if we play a 1-AA team in one of the other spots. That said, I was hoping they’d couple a 2013 away game against a good team together with a 2012 home game because the 2012 home slate really needs an upgrade in the one open spot (it’s otherwise pretty putrid).

President of the Atlanta Sports Council is on ESPN Radio affiliate down here every Friday morning. He is a yinzer by the way. Anyhow, he was just up in South Bend talking to their AD to try and get them to play down here for the Kickoff classic. They are trying to build it into a Thursday through Sunday festival like atmosphere where they have 2 big time college games, a high profile high school football game (think Cardinal Mooney vs. Odessa or something like that) and concerts sprinkled in. If they try to get something like that going up in NY, I’m sure payout would not be a problem. Wikipedia claims that each team in last years KC was paid 2 million.

My understanding was that Army agreed to play 3 games at Yankee Stadium
but only one of them was scheduled to be against Notre Dame. Prehaps Penn State would get in on one of the other two, with Rutgers also being an obvious choice.

well I know for a fact that Rutgers is the 2nd game
I think they announced/are announcing it today, but I think they’re at the game today and Schiano is throwing out the first pitch.
