My favorite quote
Right at the end of his press conference, he says “hey (I forget the name), you got that Tweedle-dee? Yeah? Write me a love letter will ya?”

My other favorite quote
“Coach, what makes you come back year after year?”
JoePa: “Oh… I’ve missed you guys.”
It's lines like that
that make me love this man more and more. Still as sharp as every knife in the drawer, even at 82.

Interesting question
By Eric Thomas via Tweedle-do: Wonder if @AaronMaybin58 returned this season if he would have been B10 preseason Def POY??
Well, not if J.L. was allowed to return to Columbus as well. Not a chance.

I find it funny that someone asked Joe about Pryor…as if “He’s a heckuva football player.” wouldn’t be the answer.
DO YOU HAVE PRIDE, DANNY?
But how amazed would you have been if it wasn’t?

Awwwll, that's ok, Jtot; Keep ur head up!
Should’ve learned the lesson about urgency from this joke:
A papa ram and his son are standing upon a hilttop and notice a flock of sheep below. The younger ram says: ‘Hey pop, let’s run down there and f*ck one of those sheep.’ The papa ram turns and looks at his son, still wet behind the ears, and says: ‘No, son. Let’s walk down there and f*ck all of them.’

It’s just a father and son having the discussion, not a papa ram and his son.

On another note, at least some good came out of Media Days- I got a new sig line.

Attempt to get PSU the #1 liquor ranking
Everyone takes a shot of Paterno’s favorite drink, Jack Daniels, every time he says that someone is a heckuva kid/athlete/talent/position or that an opponent, win or lose, is a heckuva team, or whenever he says “I don’t know, we haven’t faced anybody yet” or “we haven’t faced any adversity”
3 shots (just for the rarity of it) whenever he says he made a mistake in playing someone. To be honest, I’m kinda surprised that he said he was wrong in thinking QB14 woulda been good QB and that he had to keep his confidence high. You don’t usually see Paterno say something negative about a former player like that.
See you guys in detox soon.

about QB14
The way I read it, it seemed like when he said “I blew that one” he was referring to not playing Clark more, and not necessarily talking about Mor- I mean QB14’s potential.
yeah
it seems like he made a similar comment twice, and one of the times it definitely seems like he meant he blew the chance to get Clark more experience…though in hindsight did he really mess anything up? I mean Clark came in firing on all cylinders as is. I can’t imagine he could have been that much more prepared getting some more snaps during 2007.

Lies, lies, lies!
It was Joe who wanted the pull Morelli from (I believe) the Michigan game in ’07, but Jay talked him out of it. This is how the story was relayed to us on the premium message boards immediately after the game. This “I blew it” talk is just Joe protecting the coaches. Revisionist history.
Doesn’t really matter much now, of course.

I've heard the opposite
From some people who couldn’t get much closer to the situation without being Joe or Jay. Said when Joe signed Morelli, everyone wanted him out so he wanted to prove he still had it. I’m sure the truth lies somewhere in between.
Somebody's pants are on fire

No
That was how it was relayed on TAP (that Jay wanted to stick with Morelli and Joe wanted to try Clark). I’ve heard it was Joe who wanted Morelli.
Think about it
Given the general sentiment toward Jay in 2007, it would make perfect sense that a comment could leak out about Jay wanting to bench TQBWMNBN in favor of Clark and Joe disagreed, but the story got twisted around to make it sound like it was Jay making a mistake… Somebody heard it right, but just assumed that the person saying it was getting their Paternos mixed up.
I’m not saying that’s what happened, but it sure sounds like a plausible explanation to me.

I've always believed this story
Given Jay’s issues with the staff this would just make more sense to me. Joe does protect Jay to an extent.
