Gator In, Alamo Out
The other shoe dropped after yesterday's news that the Pac-10 snuck into the Alamo bowl by offering their #2 team.
Rittenberg claims we'll see Big Ten #4 vs. ACC #3 in the Gator Bowl on January 1st, 2010.
In related news, the Big Ten may drop the Champ Sports tie-in for a spot in the Texas Bowl.

No word
on any agreements with the Joe Paterno Bowl.

Booooo
The Alamo Bowl is only about 180 miles from my house, so I was actually looking forward to maybe going to that some day.
The Texas Bowl would be cool though. I can literally see the stadium out my office window. But I don’t know if I would want to go if PSU finished #6 in the Big Ten.

Glad you caught yourself there. But I’m not really crazy about this either, and besides I don’t really like Florida all that much. I know it’s a pipe dream with problems but I would go to NYC in a second to see a game in December. It wouldn’t involve days off or plane tickets or sun screen, and that’s enough to offset the cold IMO.

I found that I don't care about the bowls beyond the B10 #3 (4 with 2 BCS teams)
and look at those to be more of a “vacation spot” destination bowl, and I’d rather have gone to San Antonio than Jacksonville, but oh well, I don’t have the money to justify going to any non-BCS bowls anyway, so for the time being it doesn’t matter to me.

Who knows, we might get the Alamo Bowl back some day
They might regret losing the Big Ten in regards to a few massive and well traveling fan bases.

Pretty awesome view...
Once the leaves are gone I have a great view of Beaver Stadium.
I think Alamo —> Gator is a nice upgrade.

Wasn’t the Alamo Bowl Big Ten tie-in number 4/5? How could you look forward to finishing Big Ten 4/5? Unless you were looking forward to going to it, regardless of who was playing. And if that’s the case, why waste the money? Times are tight man…Obama can only do so much.

What in the world is the Big 12???
Is that anything like the Nintendo 12?

Boooooo
San Antonio was a nice change of pace from all the Florida bowls we’re already in. Shame to see it go.
God Created the World Out Of Nothing, Paterno Built A National Superpower On Cow Fields...
Two bowls in the same stadium was too much
I say, good riddance to the Champs Sports Bowl. (It looks like the Big East #2 will go there, instead.)
The (Houston) Texas Bowl better be in the cards, though.
My Only Problem With That
Doesn’t that game normally air on NFL Network?

It's moving to ESPN.

B10 has some serious pull
No way that was going to stay on the NFL Network. The increased payouts look nice too.
"I'm colonel cool! And I'm the captain on this rocket to the stars!"
Really?
The Champs Sports was what, like one spot ahead of the Motor City Bowl in terms of where the B10 teams go?
And now it’s going to the Big East Number TWO!?!?!
I mean, wow…if there’s a better indicator of the grand-canyon sized difference between the stature of the two conferences, I’d love to see it.

Champs Sports
To be fair, the Champs Sports alternates their spot with the Alamo Bowl for the Big Ten, so it’s either the Big Ten #4 or #5 pick. It has been above the Insight and Motor City Bowls in terms of pecking order.
As the Champs Sports is at the same level as the Alamo in terms of picking order, I guess you could make the same claim regarding the Pac-10 and how they’ll be sending their #2 team to the Alamo next year.
heck
with all of (most all of) our bowl games being played in the state of florida, does that make us as good as or better than a SEC team?
For the glory
i think something in that statement must have
sped right past me.
too quick to notice.
oh, sorry, that was just the O M G ESSS EEE CEEE teams running in circles to form one of those Flash-tornado type things and fling us back into the old, slow northeast (and Arm Punter, just barely trailing behind)

Wow. Just... Wow.
If only you could have worked a ‘doucheabag’ in there somehow.

as long as they keep the outback bowl
nothing like driving ten minutes to see PSU kick the snot out of some fancy pants SEC speedsters (except for the fact that to get there we had to have a season that only pitt fans would be proud of).
"It was an attrition football game and you know we like that."
Figures . . .
I move to San Antonio and they move the bowl.
I am glad though that at least they’ll be in for the Texas Bowl and that the Alamo Bowl is moving up.
Will go this year and hope Penn State isn’t in the game. Last year’s game was great, Northwestern should have beaten Missouri.
Gator Bowl sucks
The money might be a little better, but it’s a far worse trip. Jacksonville is just as likely to be cold as it warm in January.
I liked the Texas change of pace, but there was no way that the Alamo was going to get the second pick out of the big ten.

You've got to get South Carolina and Oregon State in that bowl every year.
