Linebacker Injuries
Hey Guys -
Love the blog, read it all the time and you help me get through my day. Wanted to ask you guys what your thoughts were on PSU's misfortune of Linebacker injuries in the pre-season. With the recent news of Michael Mauti getting injured, does this raise alarm to the recent trend thats been happening? PSU LB injuries that come to mind are Paul Posluszny, Sean Lee, and now Mauti.
Is this the fault of the facilities (ie indoor turf) they are practicing on? Types of drills they are doing? Etc. Or do we just chalk this up to bad luck.
Love to hear what you guys think.

How many other teams injuries do you follow?
Since PSU is under a microscope to us we hear about all their injuries. Florida had 5 ACL tears last year. It’s the product of playing in a sport where contact and stopping/turning on a time are common.

Bad luck, most likely...
I prefer to think that our offensive weapons are so quick and agile that even Linebacker U LB’s have a tough time keeping up.
Bad luck, in my opinion.

as far as ACLs go
I said this in the Mauti thread, there’s very little one can really do to prevent ACL injuries. I don’t think there’s much evidence as to why it happens.

I watched a video
somewhere it was linked off of EDSBS or somewhere the ACL surgery thats being performed today for football players. Apparently they replace the ligament with patellura bone and a synthetic that makes the knee stronger than the former ACL. So while Mauti’s injury does suck and makes puppies sad his knee should be stronger according to the video. I’d link it but its pretty graphic so I suggest you just google search “ACL repair or ACL replacement surgery video”.

Who came up with this saying anyway?
I’ve never seen worms in a can and even if they were, why would it be such a big problem?

Anybody else seen G.I. Joe yet?
I was particularly impressed that it wasn’t even half an hour into the film before they found an opportunity for somebody to say “knowing is half the battle”.

Not yet, but on the list
You recommend?

Meh
I’m not sure if it’s that I’ve become more jaded with age or that 25 years of anticipation just set the bar too high, but it seemed to be a little too cheesy for me. I realize it was based on a cartoon and toy line, but so was the Transformers franchise, and even that didn’t get as unbelievable as G.I. Joe did at times.

I thought GI Joe
was better than Transformers2 – but that ain’t saying much. Don’t set your expectations too high and see it where you can drink a beer and you just might enjoy it.

Transformers 2 had so much potential
I thought it was okay, but it still fell short of expectations.

I read that as
‘an image that I shart even forget,’ also apt.
