New Season of Greatest Games-Big Ten Network

And 1989 Holiday Bowl: Penn State -BYU kicks off the new games tuesday at 8.

Also on is 1985 Alabama v. PSU

1993 PSU v. Michigan St.

2006 Orange Bowl vs. FSU

http://www.bigtennetwork.com/corporate/Greatest-Games-Season-3-FB.asp

Maybe next year it will be 94 v. Mich or OSU. or 2005 v. OSU. All in all, 4 games out of 24 is not bad.  Would like to see 82 v. Nebraska as well

Eh

If I had to pick four for this season, I would have it would be (1989 Holiday Bowl? Couldn’t they find one better?):

1994 Michigan

1993 Michigan State (Mainly because I’ve never even seen that one)

1983 Alabama (We were unranked, they were No. 3 and it came down to a great finish)

1990 Notre Dame

Yeah

Watched this game last night, and it was even better then I remembered it.

There were only like two punts the entire game. You should get your retro on and check it out. Blair Thomas was awesome.

oh man
October 27
Jan. 3, 2006 – Orange Bowl – #3 Penn State 26, #22 Florida State 23
Two college football legends matched wits in the 2006 Orange Bowl as Joe Paterno and Penn State faced Bobby Bowden and Florida State. The Nittany Lions secured a 26-23 victory in an triple-overtime thriller. Penn State’s Kevin Kelly, who missed two earlier game-winning attempts, nailed a 29-yard field goal in the third overtime to win the game for the Nittany Lions.

Man I was so hammered at this game. It will be nice to see it on TV and get it onto VHS. I guess I sobered up near the end because I will never forget seeing JoePa raise that orange-filled trophy with all the faithful, happily exhausted PSU fans in Miami. “It wasn’t pretty but I’ll take it!” Gives me chills right now.

wait hold on

yeah I have DVR, the VHS is for posterity. Sooner of later the hard drive fills up and you have to delete stuff. I know I have the 82 Sugar Bowl and the last Superbowl on there. The SB won’t be deleted any time soon.

And I am pleased to inform everyone that I was able to set the following program to record THIS Saturday at 12PM : (live) College Football Akron at Penn State. Oh yeah, it’s on.

Doesn't your DVR allow you to save programs to DVD though?

My mom and sister use TiVo at home, not that all DVRs are TiVos, but I thought that was an option with most DVRs.

If Tivo can spit out DVDs of all the stuff on there, then I need a Tivo

I had a huge chunk of Beavis and Buttheads that I recorded to DVR recently off MTV2. I made 3 VHS tapes worth of episodes. Now MTV2 is only showing re-runs without the videos mixed in the show. So I might have saved the last copies of the unedited shows. Onto VHS. That would have been sweet to get them in a digital format. Oh well at least I can watch them again sometime.

Oh GOD!
Man I was so hammered at this game

You and me both.

I think I watched the entire second half of that game with double vision. All I remember is the stadium ran out of beer, so me and my buddy thought it was a good idea to buy Rum Runners. This was all on top of the Liqour store shots of Wild Turkey and Rumplemintze we had smuggled in the stadium. After the game we bonged some beers with depressed Florida State fans in the parking lot. I’m convinced that was their attempt at increasing our chances of death on the drive back to the hotel, which was the ultimate BAD idea. Me and my buddy played Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who had to drive home. I’ll never be that DUMB again. I don’t know how we survived.

I'm not really fat

but I had a PSU Hawaiian shirt my mom bought me (I only wear it for bowl games) and some blue and white beads and was yelling like a drunken viking. Anyway my friend told me I was like Chris Farley by the end of the game.

It was rather exhausting having to watch all those missed field goals. I’m sure my life will be a bit shorter for that.. Oh well.

Your mom buying you Hawaiian shirts

Sounds hot.

"For me the game wasn’t grounded in reality. It was about the uniform you put on that turned you into a warrior. It was about the mythology of the battle, the victory, the defeat, the struggle." - Mike Reid, PSU '69

Games I'd like to see...

The Kickoff or Pigskin classic against Ga. Tech circa 1991/2. I believe O.J. McDuffie (could be wrong on the WR – I was 11 at the time) made a crazy catch in the endzone. Also, the Fiesta Bowl against Texas where PSU looked like garbage in the 1st half and then came out gangbusters in the 2nd. Those are two games I wish I could see again.

That Fiesta Bowl was January 1997

They kept showing replays of Texas beating Nebraska to win the B12 and make the Fiesta Bowl, and the PSU fans cheered as loud as the Texas fans every time.

I remember Wally Richardson throwing a key block on a reverse to really get the offense going. Speaking of Richardson throwing, that guy could throw an out pattern 3 rows deep into the stands like nobody’s business….

I couldn't recall if...

it was 96 or 97. Wally could send a seat seeking missle like nobody’s business. Though, I believe, he beat scUm twice. Wasn’t there also a long kickoff return in that Texas game?
