Observations from the Casual Fan

Seems I always have a casual fan or two near me at the game. Pretty much everyone in our row is a regular, but we always get treated to someone new every week in the seats behind us.  Since the letters to the casual fan were such fun, I thought you may enjoy these.  If you experienced the joy of a casual fan yesterday, please share.  I must note that although casual, these fans were on time, cheered their little hearts out and were happy to be there, Even though they left in the beginning of the fourth (to "beat traffic", I assume).

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!  (Rock and Roll part 2)
  • I'm glad Joe Paterno is here, didn't he break his leg last year?
  • Which one is Joe Paterno (casual fan's wife)
  • Remember that last time we came to a game?  Was that five years ago, that was fun!
  • Who is Graham Zug?  (No Joke, they really said that)
  • Cool!  Livin on a Prayer!
  • Wooley Bully makes me want to get up and dance (casual fan's friends wife.  Full on dancing and singing to SHOUT also commenced)
  • Who is the back up QB?
  • Do we play Notre Dame this year?

In all seriousness, these folks had a great time and loved everything about the game, music and all.  so even though I know RR was dying a slow death by Bon Jovi, four people from New Jersey had an awesome time yesterday, despite not knowing anyone on the roster

I'm guessing these aren't in chronological order

since “Who is Graham Zug” had to have been the last words she ever said.

oh, it was the he who said it

and then poof he was gone

and those are in no particular order. There were more, but that is what I retained. I was trying to watch the game too

They have to leave early

to beat traffic and get back to their interesting and eventful lives . . .

I hate to sound like a snob to a couple of (ex)casual fans, but

WHO IS GRAHAM ZUG? Actually, I bet Zug spared them until after the game since he was the #1 receiver on Saturday. He wanted them to have that be the last thing they saw before they were vaporized.

He is a merciful Zug for allowing them to see him, but he is a vengeful Zug.

So did you respond to 'who is Graham Zug?'

Take on a very somber tone and say with all seriousness ‘he is our Supreme Overlord’.

Maybe we should all have pre-printed leaflets to hand out in case this situation comes up again…

So what's worse

the casual fan or the “knowledgeable” fan like the one sitting next to me at last year’s Mich St. game. After Devlin threw that late bomb for a touchdown, he says “see that, if Devlin played we wouldn’t have lost to Iowa!”. So don’t hate on the casual fan too much. At least they seem to have a good time no matter what.

is knowledgeable in quotes

because they think they know a lot? because their statement about devlin’s TD in garbage time is borderline retarded…

Exactly.

He went on for a little bit about Devlin too.
