"Washington wasn't the better team. They just outplayed us,"
-Joe McKnight, USC
I see these quotes by guys across the country. Whatever happened to "gradulations to them, they did the things we didn't and won" or "no comment" Just because you are better on paper doesn't give you a W, you have to play for it. So, if you get out-played, you lose.

I totally called this game!
Of course, tOSU should have beaten them too, but like I said, they were destined to lose at least one PAC 10 game because they let their big fat ego’s make them think their poop didn’t stink, and look what happens: YOU LOSE TO WASHINGTON! (granted Washington is improved quite a bit this year, but still, USC lost that game because of their ego’s, just like OrSU last year.
And Joe McKnight easily makes my Douchebag of the Week award for a stupid comment like that. You can hear the ego in that quote, and it pisses me off so much that they have such little class to give WU a little credit for beating them. For that, as always, I wish them nothing but failure in the future.
This is the exact same comment
from the Rose Bowl, second after defeat…they must teach this one out West.

I don't have a big problem with what McKnight said.... if you read the whole quote...
“Washington wasn’t the better team. They just outplayed us,” said Trojans running back Joe McKnight, who ran for 100 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown. “Clearly, we have superior athletes. But hard work beats athleticism every time. That’s what happened today.”
The first part shouts of sour grapes, but the last part gradulates Washington for working hard, being better prepared and playing a better game on Saturday. In sports, the best team doesn’t always win (like Iowa last year!). Yeah, on that given day, Washington was the best team.
We all know that USC has been getting the much higher rated high school athletes than Washington the past few years. However, those kids had better get over their press clippings and start to work hard. This is clearly a case of poor coaching by USC, motivation by Pete Carroll and taking things for granted. Good job Huskies.

But they WERE the better team.
Having the best players does not mean you have the best team.

I agree...
there is no “I” in team.
I just think we need to give McKnight some slack. He did gradulate Washington for outworking and outplaying USC. Much better than Pryor’s quotes!!!
