Because we took like eight of them last year?
"I thought the kid we were using had the potential to be a good quarterback, and I blew that one." - Joseph V. Paterno
What he said.
That was last year’s focus. This year has been all about the D-line, O-line, and QBs. Especially the D-line which has taken huge hits to cuts/suspensions/NFL. Plus (not that the coaches knew it when they were recruiting kids for this year) we’re looking pretty good better than last year, even with a very young secondary.
Maybe we've been trying
and having trouble? Success breeds success. Unfortunately the converse can also be true. Secondary hasn’t exactly been the most successful position at PSU.
Don't they both mean 'on the other hand'?
…at least loosely, anyway?

Unless you're talking
Chuck Taylor’s, then it’s “on the other foot”. Yuk yuk.

It makes sense we have other priorities this year, but
it doesn’t seem ideal to have a class without a single DB or safety. There’s still time, but it doesn’t seem like we’re pursuing anyone. Only so much room I guess.
We haven't landed a kicker, punter, or long snapper either....
just sayin’

There isn't really a stud in this class that had any interest in PSU.
Cullen Christian confuses me because PSU has seemingly shown no interest. Josh Furman wants to play RB and the staff disagrees. Louis Young committed early. There just isn’t a lot in our area that had interest in PSU. The staff also might think they have a better shot with some 2011 guys like Terrell Chestnut.

Forgot
Kenney could also end up at CB. Don’t be surprised.

He could make an all-time name list!

Maybe he's the hot dog eating champion's brother?

There is always some action late in the year as some of the top guys reconsider.
Maybe we pluck a 4 star away from OSU again so he can not make the grade academically @ PSU and gets into Rutgers or something.

Didn't we discuss this a few months ago?
If we did, no worries… part of the reason, along with what everyone else has said, could be that we took so many DBs in the last class that no recruits this year feel like being stuck behind them on the depth chart for 3 years. Its an honest concern. What CONCERNS ME (see what I did there?) is that most of the DBs we took last year are more Safety-esque than CB-esque. If this 2010 recruiting class comes in as is, we’re going to have THE BEST front 7 in the nation in 2-3 years. Throw in the 2 stud QBs + Newsome being a senior, Brown and Coxson at WR, a solid O-line from 2010 class and I can honestly see a legitimate National Championship run if some of our DBs pan out nicely… Of course, all that is predicated on everything on paper working out in real life… sigh if only life could be like EA Sports’ NCAA football… If its in the game…..

No worries
We’re loaded with not just DB’s, but young DB’s. We pulled in 7 DB’s last year. Remember guys like Astorino, Sukay, and Lynn have two years of eligibility left. Really, defensive back will not be a serious need until probably the class of 2012.
