Running Into The Kicker??

On the running into the kicker penalty, was I imagining it, or did a Iowa player push the Penn State player into the punter? And if so, doesn’t that negate the penalty? Just wondering….

by jaredprebish on Sep 26, 2009 9:37 PM EDT reply actions

He was blocked into the kicker.

But I think that’s only considered in the NFL.

It was a push so the penalty shouldn’t have counted.

But like Erik said Karma got revenge on the missed FG. I think if he actually hit it towards the goal post Odrick was going to get his paw on it quick.

by cmdpsu15 on Sep 26, 2009 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

I didn’t think that mattered in college ball

by biscoiv on Sep 26, 2009 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

It was a push PLUS he didn’t actually touch the kicker….

by gnuf on Sep 26, 2009 9:50 PM EDT up reply actions

it doesn't matter if you hit the kicker

and it doesn’t matter if your blocked into the kicker

if you don’t let the kicker land—which our guy didn’t—you get the 5 yard penalty.

If you aggressively run into him, you get the personal foul.

It sucked, but they might the right call.

I wouldn't trust old rooster me neither.

repost

We gotta come out firing in the 3rd Q. That was a momentum changer, missing the FG. Iowa was moving and they not only didn’t get 7, they didn’t get 3.

Like I said, no value (perception wise) in playing an Indiana with an extra win compared with UM with an extra win. Not saying we automatically beat UM, just saying if you assume your own team wins, you want favorable outcomes like a more strongly perceived UM team.
