Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

What part of Saturday are you looking foward to the most?

After all this time the season is nearly upon us!

Star-divide

I know for myself it will be taking it all in after 9 long months on no PSU football. I also will love to get the sour taste of the Rose Bowl out of my mouth. Watching Jerome Hayes, and Sean Lee retake the field will be breathtaking, because of the passion they have for the game and their teammates. Seeing Happy Valley full of revelers will be a treat. But most of all seeing Joe on the field giving an official an earful will be the moment that I am going to savor the most. What about you? What are you looking forward to the most? 1. The second I fire up that grill, crack a beer, and survey the landscape, I feel like “ahhhhh finally”.

2. Seeing Lee make his first tackle, he’ll probably get a standing ovation from the crowd.

3. All the new and young players trying out new positions all over the field. Devon Smith, Justin Brown, Kersey, etc.

Who's that guy? Who's that guy?

Furiously going through the roster to figure out who the hell everyone is on the field. I love that game.

But yeah, parking in the fields, and embarking on the walk of shame over to Shogun’s tailgate, finally arriving there, opening a beer, and being thankful for another football season. And run-on sentences.

All of you who are going to the game drink one for me!

I will be stuck in the south watching from the couch drinking some homebrew! But take a chug for all the homies who cannot make the trek.

Working in the concession stand! Woo!

… since that’s all I have to look forward to…

I’ll be in the stand-alone concession stand behind section NA if anyone wants to stop by and say hi.

An underrated experience.

See if you can be a vendor for a quarter. I recommend it once—then barter with people for the rest of the season.

Seeing old friends

Penn State football games are great, I would drive the 3 hours just for that. But, the true reason for Penn State Football Weekends are to see old friends, remember better times, and to seemingly return to those “thrilling days from yester years”. I enjoy everthing about the weekend and sometimes feel sorry for those who only seem to go for the game, they seem to miss out on a real Happy Valley Experience. This includes the trip, the tailgates, the game, and yes the bars and fine eating establishments that are still there from the days each of us attended the university, for, oh yes, getting an education.

Let’s go State!!

Temporary hijack

I just got the Big Ten Network (woot!). Do I get a choice on what game to watch? I mean, there are a bunch of games on the BTN at noon, how do I make sure I’m going to be watching Penn State? I’m getting more paranoid by the second as we get closer to tomorrow.

They have overflow channels

Last year, my overflow channels did not work

Just got a blank screen. It seems like they will this year though. They at least are always playing whatever is on the regular BTN whenever I test them out but I won’t trust them until I see a game on them.

unless you have Comcast

who took away all the overflow channels and hd channels this year (at least in Boston market). I have been calling/emailing all week demanding an explanation. None of the employees will even acknowledge that the overflow channels aren’t going to “show up” on game day (every single person insisted they still might appear game day). So begins my anti-Comcast campaign.

A friend and I are taking our 9 year old daughters to this game

It’s my daughter’s second game; his daughter’s first. Nothing compares to the look of awe on a kids face when they see the blue and white sea of fans in the tailgates, downtown, and in the stadium. Even though I’m not (technically) a kid anymore, I’m still amazed every time I go back “home” to Happy Valley.

The moment I arrive.

As my name suggests, I currently reside in the polar opposite of State College. I enjoy second-most that first sighting of the rolling fields as I reach the top and descend the mountain above Pleasant Gap (take the scenic route) towards Happy Valley. I enjoy the most, well, everything else connected with being there.

I'm with carolinaeasy on this one

The most satisfying thing will to see JoePa running out of the tunnel. Next will be Sean Lee making that first tackle.

MMMM 21 hours and 30 minutes till kickoff!!!

What I know for sure is that even mentioning Walt’s name to a Penn State fan elicits a response of rage stemming from that Pitt victory.

Uh huh.
