NEW YORK GIANTS waved Maurice Evans (DL)
So it seems Mo. Evans got waived by the Giants. Internet message boards claim it was a numbers crunch and their just wasn't a way to keep him, but he might make the practice squad.
He probably should have stayed one more year - but he didn't. So instead of being on a great team and having an All-American year, he's on the verge of being out of the league. Hope it was worth it Mo.

Your negativity...
…is seriously annoying and played out.
You couldn’t just give a nice “Good luck Mo, hope you stick somewhere,” could you? You have to ridicule the young man’s decision, despite having no clue why he made it. Even if he makes the practice squad, that’s $88k right there. That would go a long way towards supporting himself and his family.
I am all for different opinions, but c’mon dude. Please just stick to writing your anti-nepotism posts on your own blog. After last year’s success, Jay-bashers are in short supply, so it’s good you’re still staying strong. Maybe you an M1EK can get together, crack open a few zimas, and reminisce about the days PSU sucked and gave you more to whine about.
Best of luck Mo, hope you stick somewhere.

damn CP... I must say way to crack back bro! Zimas? lol
I think someone may still pick him up. Never enough good D-lineman around so he may still get claimed

Great response
I completely agree.
I’m thinking about it like this. Where would Mo Evans have fit in on the team this year? Jack Crawford was ready for a starting role, and Hayes has locked down the other end. Mo Evans probably would have been a back up and a part of the DE rotation. Though i’m sure it might have helped us, it doesn’t hurt us that he’s not here. He had his own reasons for leaving the team and I’m sure he had a good justification for it.
At the end of the day, he’s still a Penn Stater and is representing our school out there. At the very least we should all wish him the best.

Wellll
I’m somewhere between you two. I wish him well, while at the same time I wish he would’ve displayed a little more character and attempted to work his way out of Joe’s doghouse. He had plenty of potential and didn’t really attempt to play up to that last season.
Luring recruits with my new "Posting HD" scheme since '08.
I wish he would have stayed, too...
I also wish Koroma would have pulled his crap together but thems the breaks. Here’s hoping our young group of DLineman take some notes from Odrick and play hard, make good decisions, and stay out of trouble.

Mo Evans
I seem to remember reading somewhere that he planned on being “3 and done” before he even set foot on campus. Something to do with his family’s financial situation. This is why it’s annoying to read people’s opinions when they don’t know the facts.
Of course I wish Mo stayed, and I’m sure he could’ve improved his draft stock by doing so. But it is what it is. He gave us a one great year (almost single-handedly beating Indiana in ’07), and then made one big mistake (smoking up).
Forgive me for not crucifying the guy, as I’ve made my fair share of mistakes as well. But the guy was still a Penn Stater, and I hope he reps the Blue and White somewhere in the NFL. Tough road to hoe, but here’s to hoping he keeps trying.

He is now a buc
Tampa picked him up of waivers and added him to the active roster. The kid is a long way from being out of the league. It is still very very early in his career, after all look at Cameron/Derrick Wake.
rotoworld on Evans going to Bucs
Buccaneers claimed DE Maurice Evans off waivers from the Giants.
New York was too deep to keep Evans on its 53-man roster, but he was too talented to pass through waivers unclaimed. He’ll be the Bucs’ fifth end, behind Gaines Adams, Jimmy Wilkerson, Stylez White, and Kyle Moore.
I TOTALLY forgot that guy
legally changed his name to Stylez White. Great choice.

Evans was a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the nation’s top defensive end, in 2007 after a sophomore season at Penn State in which he racked up 12.5 sacks, 54 tackles and five forced fumbles. After opening the ’08 season with a suspension and finishing with just three sacks, Evans declared for the NFL draft but was not selected. He ended up in New York with the defensive end-rich Giants, but will now get an opportunity to show off his skills in Tampa.
crazy facemask
Seriously, the helmets and facemasks just get uglier every year.

And Evans gets the boot
Looks like he should have smoked less, paid more attention to his coaches and not been so greedy. Oh well, now he can sit at home with no college education; no nfl career; and no real career period.

wait let me get this straight
According to Firejaypa, Mo should have lost his scholarship over the MJ incident — which means he wouldn’t be on the team this year anyway if such a rule actually existed… But fortunately for us that rule doesn’t exist, and Mo is a jerk for leaving the team… instead of being kicked off which would have been cool… does that sound about right?
Anyway, good for Mo to make the Bucs. I wish him nothing but the best.

I’ll patiently await for you reference where I said this, full quote would suffice. Until then I’ll request you not put words in my mouth or assume you know what I’ve said/haven’t said.
Thanks

suit yourself
don’t recall being on athletic scholarship at PSU getting a free tuition in exchange for abiding by some rules. Remember what we did at 19? No one here is perfect, but when you’re held to a higher level – you’re held to a higher level…simple as that.
I say this should be the case for EVERYONE on scholarship (Academic or Athletic). Run in with the law =’s you lose your scholarship….
I guess what you meant to say was “…EVERYONE (except Evans)…”?
Now I’ll patiently wait while you back peddle out of that statement. Perhaps you can find a way to smuggly contradict yourself yet again? No wonder no one reads your crappy blog.

Here’s to guessing we don’t get a rebuttal to that.

I often wonder how people can so quickly forget what they have written. This exchange is quite comical. I’m certain the defense, which you have already deconstructed, would have amounted to his asking for a direct quote about Evans, specifically. What disturbs me the most is an alleged graduate of the fine institution most of us have called home at some point in our lives being expected to be taken seriously while displaying copious amounts of cognitive dissonance and constructing sentences such as this one: Run in with the law =’s you lose your scholarship….
Perhaps English 101 time was spent at the ’Skeller with too many cases of “Number 33”, which were only seven dollars when I attended at least 780 moons ago. Perhaps any graduate who publishes and displays such limited knowledge of writing should forfeit their diploma.

Of course, to stay within the standard rules of the Internet, I added one sentence of my own with poor construction in that post critical of the language skills of another.
