Hey guys, I realize this is a sports blog, but we are all human, and we owe it to each other to help when disaster strikes.
Most of you probably know about the 7.0 magnitude quake that was centered literally 10 miles away from the national capital of Haiti, Port Au Prince, yesterday afternoon. For those that don't, that city along with several others in Haiti have been just about completely, totally destroyed. The actual government building is demolished, and everyone that was inside the UN building when the quake struck is also likely dead, including the UN peacekeeping director for Haiti.
There are two easy ways to help, and I implore you to do so if you can.
The first is texting 'YELE" to 501501, and that will give a 5 dollar donation to the Yele.org Haiti Relief organization (started by Wyclef Jean).
The second is by texting "HAITI" to 90999, which will give a 10 dollar donation the Red Cross's efforts in Haiti.
Either method will appear on your next phone bill. Both are credible and being reported by news outlets.
If you should happen to have family there, call 888-407-4747 for information.
Thanks for hearing me out on this, despite having nothing to do with PSU athletics.
