Around SBN: Troubled Yankees Join Troubled Red Sox In Last Place

Apparently there has been a good bit of rumbling that the Big11 is already having substantive talks with Pitt about joining the conference. If this is true, most people seem to think that it is inevitable that the league will try to go to 14 teams.

Nothing substantial, but I suppose it might be worth noting.

If we add Pitt, we go to 14 teams.

They’re not nearly a big enough team to make a splash for the 12th team.

Actually

Strictly in terms of football and basketball, they’re the best match.

They just don’t bring any eyeballs to the BTN, so I have a hard time believeing this.

wierd

Yeah, I’m not buying it. This isn’t going to be like hiring a new head coach, or a kid transferring to another school.

My guess is that if and when we bring in another team we’ll have a slow march with weeks of speculation and build up before its finally announced. Oh, and you don’t tell a bunch of 18-22 year olds with twitter accounts anything you want to keep a secret. That’s just silly.

There may be something to this.. What if it is the first in a chan of dominoes. a mass gutting of the big east

. A Joepather move tp get revenge against the big east folk for shooting down his eastern conference…… insert evil laugh here about joepas diabolical plan ot get revenge.

but if Pitt is joining I think there must be another 2 schools in the pipeline.

I would really dig a Pitt + 2 more scenario.

Ok, for Real no announcement.

As some of you know, I’m a Pitt student. I called a contact of mine with the athletic department; they said that the Athletic Director did meet with all of the athletes, and many athletes thought the meeting would be about a conference change, but that was not the purpose of the meeting. I dunno if that’s what they were supposed to tell me or what, but my contact says no conference announcement was made to Pitt’s student athletes.

I talked to a friend of mine that's on a team here

And he had no comment. So, that doesn’t add anything, but I think maybe we can use it to feed the speculation.

Like, if today was opposite day, “no comment” could be code for “no,” which means “yes.” So… go with your heart.

(Frankly, I’ll only believe Pitt’s in this thing if Texas is coming first and we need a new eastern team).

"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
