So many things. The scramble for the 1st 1st down on the first drive. 4th and one, waving off the special teams unit. The fade on 3rd and 10. Hell, all the 3rd down conversions. No turnovers. The touch on his balls. 5 scoring drives in the 1st half. Putting Kirk Herbstreit on notice.
To say this may be the most epic performance by a Penn State quarterback I’ve ever seen would be an over statement. But it’s damn, damn close. He oozes confidence, he makes everyone around him better. He’s probably the least talented QB on the roster, and yet in my opinion, he’s far and away the best. Royster deserves his share here too, he stepped up.
McGloin made his first career start, in a night game, as a 3rd string QB, played a flawless game, and then called out his doubters. McGloin despite them. Sure Michigan has an aweful defense, it still took 41 points to win.
From here going forward will be a topic for dispute, but for now we celebrate.
