Thursday Night Tailgate; Buckeyes 2010 Version
Jessedot asked me to post this for Jessedotsmom tonight. Hope this works out.
Five Turkey Sandwiches named after Nittany Lion Players.

Beat the Buckeyes!
#1. THE McGLOIN: Ya gotta start with this one folks!
When you've got turkey and gravy in your refrigerator, there is no need to look any further. My playbook calls for an open-faced hot turkey sandwich on brioche bread you can count on for a solid performance every time!
~ Matthew McGloin, #11 (6'-1"/209).
#2. THE ROYSTER. Nothing fancy, all business. "This is what I'm takin' about"...
my all-time favorite sandwich. The classic club sandwich. Three thin slices of my brioche, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise! There is nothing "up the middle" about this!
~ Evan Royster, #22 (6'1"/228).
#3. THE SMITH. Small, slick and make-my-day swift!
Serve up some crostini. Grilled baguette slices layered with apple butter, shaved red onion, turkey, thin sliced apple and grated Gouda cheese. Broil until the Gouda melts, top with another dollop of apple butter and glide into the appetizer end zone!
~ Devon Smith, #20 (5'7"/157).
#4. THE WISNIEWSKI. A big, strong, well-seasoned man who always gets his job done!
Hold the girly green lettuce leaves and tomatoe slices. Give 'em a grilled 4-pepper goat cheese, bacon and turkey thigh panini-roll sandwich (onions optional)!
~ Stefen Wisniewski, #61, Senior (6'3"/306).
#5. THE WAGNER. This one just doesn't miss!
This crowd pleasing focaccia bread is layered with creamy horseradish sauce, grated Havarti cheese, shaved red onion, bacon, turkey, baby greens and sliced tomato. Kick another one between those uprights and serve me and the rest of the crowd another slice of the three point pie!
~ Collin Wagner, #36 (5'9"/183).

What has happened to Jessedot question mark?
I’ll have to assume he’s still in namby pamby land searching for some self respect with the other Jackwagons.
Thanks for the sandwiches JFB and jessedotsmom.
All 5 of these look super-delicious!
“The Smith” w/ the apple butter looks very intriguing. I’m not sure if you can even buy apple butter in NJ – we might be too not country for that. Might have to travel to South Jersey to find some.
Nothing better than turkey leftovers. Nothing. (Except beating Ohio State!!)
"God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy"
you can get it in the grocery story, I am pretty sure I have seen it in Morris County
400. That is all.
I use Musselman's... the same company that makes applesauce. It's easy to find here.

I live near Musselman's factory.
After life-long exposure to their products and the apple sauce and butter my relatives make, I can say with full confidence that Musselman’s just doesn’t compare.
But they do a decent job.

This stuff all looks rather complicated
for my cooking abilities. Got any good recipes for hot dogs and beans?

Hot dog recipe:
Turn on broiler
Place hot dog (I prefer Berks) on rack
Cook for ten minutes. Turn over. Cook for another ten minutes.
Eat. Do not put ketchup on the hot dog or Dirty Harry will hunt you down.

I had a roommate
who managed to “obtain” a hot dog cooker from Sheetz. Let’s just say that our hot dogs were always perfectly cooked and he was the best roommate ever.
Everything looks more important when written in gray italics.
I had a roommate
who managed to survive on raman and koolaid for an entire year. I nicknamed him Grape.
I wish Sheetz would have been around at the time to help us out.
Oh, we got both kinds. We got country AND western
I had a boyfriend who "obtained" two of those chairs with the giant fanlike backs
from the waiting area of a Mexican restaurant chain
he was such a douchea
400. That is all.
If you would have said "I prefer Nathans" I would have tried to get you banned.
Those hot dogs are unbelievably disgusting. Literally. I cannot believe how gross they are.

Thank you,

Hebrew National All Beef Kosher 1/4 Pound Dinner Franks...
I developed a recipe for Chili Dogs that was chosen by ATK (American’s Test Kitchen) in Boston and published in their cookbook “America’s Best Lost Recipes”. It is, as the kids say, “the bomb.” Perhaps we should have Chili Dogs for next weeks tailgate? Anybody interested?

Chili Dogs...
Now you’re talking. I dearly miss the chili dogs of PA and NY that go under names such as “Texas Hots,” “Coneys,” and “Greek Dogs.” There is nothing remotely close available in Louisiana.

That is EXACTLY the recipe I developed & that EXACTLY the recipe I'll post next week!
I grew up in Tamaqua, PA (eastern coal regions) eating hot dogs at The Texas Lunch and The Coney Island. It’s all about the unique sauce!

Umm, question:
WHERE THE HELL IS JESSEDOT?
It’s Ohio State week for jackwagon’s sake! Nobody can talk down about them like he can.
Nobody.

Jessedot would be here if he could.
We all miss him, and his point of view, which was carefully groomed since early childhood by true Nits.
But this is not a good week.
