A look back at the Quarterbacks and a year that was (updated)

The Number shown to the right of each school is their current CBS sports power ranking, while the  number to the farther right is their Jeff Sagarin rating. The numbers are added up to determine the strength of schedule of each quarterback. Youngstown State is thrown out as a division two school, and Minnesota is thrown out as well, because  Mcgloin took the majority of snaps, but Bolden was playing very well before he came out. Stats accumulated in the Minnesota  game were left in the individual statistics, due to Mcgloin throwing just one more pass.

Average strength of loss:   9.5         15

Average strength of defense in win:97

Average strength of defense overall:65

Now lets look at just the defenses they faced, these are the total defense ratings for the schools each faced this year

 alabama 7
kent state 12
temple 17
Iowa 15
llinois 40
Mich 109
NW 94
IU 89
MSU 31

Average of teams played     Average of teams they beat

Mcgloin               65                                                        97
Bolden                  18                                                       14

I think both of these sets of statistics hold value, and that while Bolden faced in general better defenses, Mcgloin faced better teams overall, which makes it pretty hard to decipher these fully.

since we're talking quarterbacks, Newsome needs to run the wildcat, I think we see it in the bowl game, ala DC17 in the Alamo Bowl a few years back.
