Whoa.

Well, kudos to Iowa for choosing off-the-field standards over on-the-field production. Does anyone know why Hampton’s leaving?

I didn't read the BHGP epic thread

But the Lions247 chatter is that Ferentz requested drug tests from some (or maybe all) of the team, and some of the players either refused or failed. That’s just internet chatter, but you don’t lose three running backs over nothing.

That's rough.

Good luck to the Hawkeyes. They’ll wade through all this crap eventually.

rumor alert!

There are rumors all over the place that something bad is going down at Iowa. That anywhere from 12 to 22 players are going to be suspended. They have a press conference tomorrow at 11est. Vegas has the line off the board.

Huh

Guess the devil has come to collect his due from Iowa for last season.

Kudos to Iowa and Ferentz for doing things right

if it’s true he ordered the drug tests and is choosing to suspend players over it. That takes some guts, but is totally the right thing to do given the DJK situation.

is it, though?

I don’t know the full story, but I don’t think I’d be thrilled to have to take a mandatory drug test just because one of my coworkers got busted for drugs. What’s the reasoning behind suspecting me?

It sounds to me like one of those things you don't much care about

unless you have a reason to care. I’m not really sure, though. Regardless of personal feelings, Ferentz was put in a certain situation and he seems to be trying to do the right thing.

If you play for an NCAA team, you can be tested any time.

I'm not saying he wasn't technically in the right

but it is sorta like the whole outcry over Homeland Security (wiretaps, logging personal activity such as library records) and the TSA (invasive screenings of everyone).

On one hand, blanket checking of everything sure gives (a sense of) more security, but on the other hand you’ll have a lot of “innocent” people pissed off at being targeted for no actual reason.

Iowa had a lot of off the field issues prior to the 2008 season...

I remember because we had a bunch of $hit going down too that we were trying to leave behind.

In related news, after watching Quarless blow it in the Packers game, I decided to google “Gods Gift Andrew Quarless” to see if he updated his tattoo with an appropriate apostrophe. While I think the answer is still “no”, I did also find lots of pics of pot plants. So apparently Gods Gift is a type of Mary J.

I believe

his tat now reads “Gods Gifts”. He added an S. I also highly doubt the tattoo is a shout out to weed. Its just an awful tattoo that he probably hated 3 months later. I saw a bunch of my friends get awful tats in high school and college.

ITS STILL AMBIGUOUS

are we referring to the gifts of many gods (gods’ gifts)
or the gifts of a single god (god’s gifts)

I need clarification on AQ’s theism

actually the last s was always there, at least as of his senior year

I think it was probably always there, just really hard to see. Also I’m thinking proper punctuation isn’t high on his list of priorities.

Everything looks more important when written in gray italics.

Well, that wasn't so bad. Robinson and Hampton are both gone. That's about it.

I agree

I honestly don’t enjoy seeing that stuff go down anywhere, much less at Iowa.

Ok so if it happened at FSU or something like that, I’d probably enjoy it just a little.
