Soc 5
In case you didn't hear, Frank Clemente gave his last lecture at Penn State a few weeks ago. Soc 5 was probably the only class I still remember from college. I just watched the video again tonight. I feel bad that future penn staters will not get to take his class.
Here is the link for the video. It is over an hour but a must watch especially if you were not lucky enough to get in his class.

I took Soc 5 but I don't remember him. I thought that class was totally lame, easiest class I ever took.
In fact, I skipped about half the classes and still aced it.
This is true for about 80% of the classes I took.....
skipped about half the classes and still aced it
Thank you Nittany Notes
but I did go to Soc 5 all the timeI loved his stories
I wouldn’t give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed.

omg
i was literally thinking about him just a few hours ago after watching a clip from The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and thinking how i wish people had recorded Frankie’s lectures. i took his class and then volunteered as a TA just to hear his stories again… what a legend.
When I took the class spring 2009, someone was recording each lecture with a video camera. I had e-mailed Frank about getting a copy of it and he said to come by the following fall but I forgot all about it.

Oh man
Frank Clemente. Completely forgot about that guy. Awesome class.
Luring recruits with my new "Posting HD" scheme since '08.
Ugh, I hated that guy
He tried waaay too hard to be the wacky, eclectic professor that was the talk of the campus and wanted to be known more for his comedic shenanigans than anything else. “Ohhh, he has a picture of himself sitting on the toilet in the middle of the street in one of his Power Point presentations, ZOMG! He’s so cool and such a free wheelin’ guy” I just didn’t buy into his shtick and found him endlessly irritating.
/end rant
//that wasn’t directed towards you either and I was actually discussing him with another alum over this past weekend

Man, my SOC professors were not exactly inspirational.
One was a lady from India who was trained in Poland and the US who had, by far, the easiest tests I have ever taken. It was almost insulting.
The other one used lots of videos from the ’80s.
For me, urban historical geography with Deryck Holdsworth was the best. Never have I come into a class with such low expectations and been blown away by the passion of the professor match with the surprisingly interesting material.

Nice
I took an Urban Geography class (not with Holdsworth) as an elective and went into it with really low expectations. I was blown away by how interesting it was, it was awesome. I also had Kerry Collins’ uncle as an upper level English professor and that guy was a trainwreck.

Holdsworth
He was an amazingly intellectual guy who could relate to everyone in the classroom. I feel luck to have had Deryck and Frank Clemente they were both great and very memorable.
If you've ever seen South Park, he was the equivalent of Stan's Dad.
Always trying too hard to be funny, edgy, etc. In the end, all I remember from his class was regurgitating mounds of useless facts on the final.
