Outback Bowl on ABC
The Outback Bowl is going to be on ABC, running concurrently with the Citrus (Capital One) Bowl and the Gator Bowl. Kind of interesting PSU's game gets the top billing at least in terms of the network it's airing on. Is the match-up that good relative to the Citrus Bowl (Presented by Capital One)? Is Urban Meyer that beloved? Do they know something about Joe we don't know? I doubt the last one--too many people to keep it a secret. But it is odd the lower tier bowl is getting a bigger stage than the Cap One Bowl.

It's pretty simple.
PSU and UF are just more likely to draw a national audiance, especially given it being Meyer’s last game. For all intents and purposes, despite being in contention for most of the season to go to the SECCG, Alabama has been nearly invisible in the media light. Them vs MSU just isn’t a compelling matchup unless you’re a fan of those two schools.
PSU/UF showcases two young teams with a ton of talent, but both with coaching turmoil (real or perceived) and may set the show for next years seasons.
"This is being a Penn State fan. We’ll prove it, or we won’t. It’s not about proving it to them, it’s about proving to ourselves."
The bowl game TV channels were set in advance of the season, long before the teams playing in them were known. The Outback Bowl being on ABC has been known for months. There is nothing to see here.

The real question here, is who is calling the game?
I sort of hope its Nessler/Blackledge/Maguire with Erin Andrews on the field.
The banter between Maguire and Nessler cracks me up. Erin Andrews will just make me feel better, since I plan on being hung over.

We are getting Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden, and Suzy Kolber. The Nessler team is getting the Citrus Bowl that day FWIW.
seriously?

I can hear it in my head now:
John Gruden: “Yeah Mike, you know they call him ‘JoePa’ because his first name is Joe and his last name is Paterno. So You take the J.O.E. and the P.A…..”

I actually like Gruden.
He makes me think of the Hank Williams song I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive, which is a lot less depressing than one would think.
Vastly more memorable than Jon Crispin's UCLA career.

Concur.
Gruden’s been getting better and better for MNF, he was so-so at first but I enjoy listening to him now (and his back-and-forth with Jaws).
I agree
Once you get by his odd inflections within his monotone, his points are very good. He somehow sounds excited/angry/suprised without really changing the level of his voice, just by talking “harder”. But yeah, He has grown on me and he and Jaws make a pretty good color team. They really know the game.
Show me an elitist, and I'll show you a loser.

The story lines are endless!!
Suzy Kolber once interviewed a guy that sounded like JoePa sometimes sounds!
Jon Gruden was named as a top five PSU candidate by some message board commenter (thus leading to numerous MSM reports of Gruden being on the short list)!
And Mike Tirico!
