You may not agree with his political views, but I think we can all agree he has good taste in beer
Please please please no political discussion (who am I kidding, this is stuck down in the FanShots, so no one will see it). This thread is all about why Yuengling is awesome.

I'm stunned.
Remember the beer summit thing? He drank Miller Lite or same crap.

I’m almost certain that would have been a well calculated, polled, and focus group tested choice. There was probably a couple weeks worth of data and testing done to analyze which beer choice appealed to the proper demographics and gave him the most positive impact.
Political affiliation completely aside, in those situations almost every choice by a president or presidential candidate is over-analyzed. Wasn’t there a month long media-saga on what pin he did or didn’t wear?

In his defense, he needed to remain neutral in that beer summit
so he had to pick something with no taste whatsoever.
awesome

America's Beer
Does Yuengling distribute to Iowa? If not Stanziballs is going to need to turn over J Leman’s American Flag print pants.
If so? You are welcome, flatlanders

You can't really call it "America's beer" if it isn't west of Ohio.

it doesn't even make it to Ohio
which is the frustrating thing. Nor West Virginia.
(at least any of the places I’ve tried to get it from in my quest to find a place that isn’t 5 hours away)

A friend of a friend works at the Pottsville brewery; he says they have no plans to expand into Ohio. They’ve expanded up and down the east, though. I remember being shocked to find Black and Tan in a gas station in Tennessee last Christmas.
From what I've been told
(and I’ve talked to 2 major distributors here in Michigan) is that they don’t plan on expanding because they don’t want the quality to suffer. That is probably a valid concern, but they did open up that brewery down in (I think) Florida, which allowed them to expand out there. I remember a few years ago being similarly surprised at finding it at all the grocery stores in South Carolina.
I just find it amusing that a (fake) state that borders PA can’t get Yuengling, yet pretty much the entire southeast can.
On the plus side, I’m driving from Texas to Michigan this coming weekend, and now plan on making sure my route goes through Tennessee.

yes there is a brewery in florida
it’s in tampa to be more specific. and it also doesn’t taste as good
Best Part of the map
Knowing that I’ll be able to drink Yuengling while tailgating for the Bama game
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face
You can get it for about $18 or $19 a case
at Sam’s Club, after taxes here in Birmingham. But you can also get it for about $10 – $11 a 12-pack (bottles) at the grocery store. I don’t know about cans, since I usually don’t drink the cans, but probably cheaper. I’ll make sure to provide a Birmingham/Tuscaloosa guide closer to game day!
For the glory
yeah, I saw them on the map above, too
though that’s still not any closer to me than PA.
The only reason I mentioned it was I had a roommate who would go rafting in WV a few times a year, and every time I’d have him check to see if he could bring back some Yuengling, and every time he said he couldn’t find any. This was before I found out that they didn’t even distribute there (still shocks me that a beer that can be found in distant states is not available in bordering states.)
At least the footprint is expanding.

OK
Ohio serves 3.2 beer (?) and West, By Gawd Va, doesn’t have breweries, they have stills.
Nice.
The above map is one of the primary reasons that I have no desire to live off of the atlantic seaboard.
Anyone try the Bock yet? Delicious. Glad they are starting some seasonals.
Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Name. All Game.
I suspect
That the choice of Yuengling versus Molson has something to do with the America’s Oldest Brewery versus North America’s Oldest brewery.
And Sidney Crosby can kiss the fattest part of my ass.
Pitt currently has both a better football and basketball team than Michigan.
Sheesh, jesse. you almost sound like a Flyers fan.

Then he won anyway.

I agree with all parts of this post
The “America’s Oldest Brewery” piece was actually the first thing I thought of when I heard about this deal, too.
"In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
yeah, I first thought about the "oldest breweries" connections as well
but still enjoy that a bet involving Yuengling was made on an event that occurred ~3000 miles from where Yuenlging is even available.
Maybe Obama can use his presidential powers to fix college football and proclaim that Yuengling shall be distributed country-wide. That’s socialism I can get behind!

If socialism is exposing the country to the magical elixer called Yuengling
maybe socialism is a good thing
Oh how I miss Yuengling
When I was flying to PA last year to attend the Iowa game, I had to change planes in Philly. I walked off the plane into the terminal, there was Chickie and Pete’s right across from my gate. I walked in and slammed a basket of crab fries and washed them down with two Lagers. Then I got up and ran to catch my next plane.

Black Shoe Diaries
i heard them mention that during the closing ceremonies last night
i was very impressed by obama’s beer choice. Yuengling the beer approved by World Leaders.

This is excellent.
