Aaron Maybin moving to OLB... Urban Meyer's a jerk, USC is robbing the cradle
Ok, so here's how it went down (if I understand correctly). Florida just signed a killer recruiting class and a lot of defensive recruits were really excited to be there. Then the day after LOI day... ONE DAY AFTER, Florida's defensive coordinator just up and leaves. The man who parents entrusted their kids to (since who knows how long Meyer has until he keels over and dies) is now gone.
And what else? He's moving Aaron Maybin to outside linebacker with the bills
Finally, in the weird world of sports, I got a tweet not too long ago from ESPN saying that a THIRTEEN year old committed to USC.
What the heck is going on? Skins4ever, can you shed some light on this issue for me?

ha!
I just put the article about the 13 year old in the fan shots. This kid goes to school literally 5 minutes away from my house.
OMGWTFLOL!
Agree.
Tell him that at his age, Dragon Ball Z and getting wristies should be more important. Not committing to play college football 5 years from now.

Wowzers
1. That George Edwards guy worked for UF for 27 days before quitting. Wow.
2. Maybin belongs in a 3-4 defense at OLB. This should be a good move for him, I think.
3. Lane Kiffin is keeping the USC awesomeness torch going, I see.
Hali
Tamba has become more of a weapon in KC since he was moved to OLB. I’ve always thought that Maybin and Hali have some similarities in size (not huge) and speed/quickness, so on paper, this sounds like a good idea.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!
If there's one thing more reliable than the word of a 17-18 yr old
it is the word of a 13 yr old.
Surprising that he’s wanted to go to USC for his “whole life” when USC has been the OMG BEST EVAR SCHOOL (other than Florida) for his “whole life”
Would love to see Kiffin run USC into the ground and suddenly this kid changes his mind.
Also, Clausen was the LeBron of football? I thought LiC was Pryor…
There is no "Lebron James of Football"
There were talks of Lebron trying to leave highschool early to enter the NBA. He could have played in the league at 16-17. He was and is an absolute freak of nature. In football, those clowns mentioned aren’t even close. Maybe maybe Herschel Walker or Barry Sanders or something, but not these dudes.
Side Note: Also isn’t Fred Taylor’s son something of a prodigy? I think I heard he made all state playing for the varsity in 8th grade or something insane like that
Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Name. All Game.
"Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth."
He's got 76 touchdowns in 2 years
starting in 8th grade.
Somehow, he was 16 this past year as a freshman in high school… hm.
Anyway. Yeah, in Florida, if the 8th graders are in the same building as the high school, you can play high school sports in 8th grade. So that’s what he did.
He’s got something sick like over 4200 yards already in 2 years, and he scored 19 touchdowns in FOUR PLAYOFF GAMES this past season.
We are gonna shock them with 5,000 mega watts of raw ROO POWER.
Reminds me of Varsity Blues
“Yeah, we held him back a year to get him ready for Freshman tryouts.”
Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Name. All Game.
"Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth."
A Varsity Blues reference...
…NOT made by Dawson? I kinda figured that would be his territory.

No, you're thinking of teeny soap operas.
I mean, he’s named after a creek.

Didn't you know?
He was JVB’s stunt double in that movie. He took all the hits and read all the NERD books, while JVB hit up the strip clubs and got krunked. Life is good when you’re representin’ the Creek, son!

Isn't there some rule in PA regarding eligibility for kids over the age of 18?
I seem to recall a 19 year old senior being ruled ineligible by the PIAA when I was in high shool.
Not sure about PA
But all the articles I find on this kid keep saying “three more years” in the context of him putting up state record numbers, shattering Emmitt Smith’s records, etc.
We are gonna shock them with 5,000 mega watts of raw ROO POWER.
Pretty soon
People like Urban and Carroll are going to be visiting day cares to scout talent. “OMG did you see that baby? He crawled the 40 in 8 seconds flat! Get him an offer immediately!”

I see what you did there.
Rec for lulz
George Edwards had a vision
He saw Jesus in his mashed potatoes and was told to move Maybin to OLB.

yunze posters see where Seantrell will NOT sign on the dotted line at U$C till they give him and his Dad some proof that are going to address the possible NCAA sanctions….smart, huh ? Maybe tO$U still has a chance ? I do think it was the “DO”.
They have hearings the 19-20, he's waiting until after that.

Very smart move, he’s probably already hooked up with an unofficial agent helping him out. Well not probably, I’m going to say he’s definitely got a sports agent, posing as a “friend of the family”.

We both know that hearing ain't gonna tell us nothing
I’m slightly more curious about when his latest ACT scores come in.

I have to say
Maybin has a real passion for the game. You would think most players after being drafted at #11 overall, only seeing limited snaps all year, and then getting a coaching change and a move to a different position, would be upset or at least hesitant about what is going on. But Maybin has embraced it all and seems genuinely excited about it. Good for him.
Well, he doesn't have a whole lot of say in the matter
after holding out as long as he did, and finally getting a contract, and not putting up superstar numbers, he isn’t really in a position to be dictating what the coaches will do with him
by The JuggerNitt on Feb 5, 2010 12:23 PM EST up reply actions
No
but I would understand if he had reservations about the whole thing. I follow him on twitter and as soon as they hired their DC he was talking about how excited he was for the switch. He’s always pretty upbeat and seems to have a real love for the game. I know some people are probably upset at him for leaving early (unfairly so in my mind), but you can tell he isn’t just about the money, but about the game itself.
I read his twitter a bit last year and he became quite annoyed at the suggestion of some fans that he play linebacker. While I understand that his responsibilities in a 3-4 defense are much different than those of a 4-3 linebacker, I wonder if his sudden enthusiasm for something he once dreaded is more based on a fear that he won’t make it as a DE.
I remember Suggs saying the same thing
Worked out pretty well for him, no?
You're linking us to Rotoworld now?

well, maybe my FFB team. But they are a decent player news aggregtor.
