The return of the AFL (and a Penn State legend)
Earlier today I was reading a Fanpost over at BHGP about the return of the Arena Football League and the Iowa Barnstormers. Living in Milwaukee, I decided to see who would be suiting up for the new Milwaukee Iron team and see if there were any familiar names. I'm going down the roster without seeing anyone of note. All of the sudden near the bottom I see at quarterback, standing at 6'4" and weighing in at 232 out of Penn State, none other than Anthony Fucking Morelli. Wow. I think I'll just give up hope for that team already...
Thanks for the fanpost! Please do not post any content from a premium site that requires a subscription. Also, if you just want to share a link, quote, or video, please consider using fanshots instead. Thanks.

Meh.
All in the past. Plus his wife is attractive. More than any wife most of us could dream of. Find pictures yourself.
Anyway. What’s Timmy Dwight been doing lately?

You say that as if you 1) know what we look like and can gauge what kind of talent we could pull in, and 2) know what our others look like.
I, for one, find my future-wife extremely attractive and would not trade her for Mrs. Morelli.

First post was poorly executed, retrospectively. If SBN would add an edit feature, I would edit the wife part.
Here’s the summary of my feelings on Morelli: what do any of us know about the man as a person? I know his father “may” have been a soccer mom type. This is all secondhand. I know he was, you know, not a great quarterback. But time goes on. He hasn’t gotten in any trouble since, and it doesn’t appear that he’s doing nothing with his life. I suppose I’m just tired of the cracks. And, FWIW, I’m guilty of this myself. I won’t deny that.

Also, seriously, does everyone here have a different definition of “most” than me? So far we have 3-4 people claiming their wives are hotter than Morelli’s. That’s still quite a minority (and honestly, if everyone on here claims their wife is as hot or hotter than his, I’m calling shenanigans)

In fact, they don’t care about State Penn so much that they feel the need to troll on State Penn blogs. Then they feel the need to post back on their little homebase about how irrelevant State Penn is and how Anthony Morelli playing in the AFL somehow proves State Penn’s irrelevance (whilst cracking jokes about “Joe Poo”, natch). Excellent logic there, SouthBayBuckeye. Todd Boeckman was undrafted and is not attached to any team. Thus, Ohio State is irrelevant.
So remember folks. Think before you flag that post. He’s just trying to spread the gospel of State Penn’s irrelevance.

Todd Beckman scorched your secondary and is not on an NFL team..... excellent logic there

Well, if we're going to post things that are mostly detached from anything anyone else has said:
State Penn’s secondary was just as bad in 2008 and yet Jim Tressel didn’t play the quarterback who had scorched that same secondary in 2007 and instead played a freshman scrambler against a fast, disciplined defense……. excellent logic there.

with that offensive line it was the best option
Boeckman was getting murdered earlier in the season, and I think that year under center has already paid off.

Boeckman got murdered during the USC game. Penn State's defensive line wasn't as good. In fact, they didn't get much pressure on Pryor when he actually passed.
But hey, I know you have to defend Tressel so he’s a better coach than JoeCrappedHisPantsGuy.

Sure, but our o-line was crap that year
I still think that time under center really helped. There’s just no substitute for experience.
He’s a better coach NOW, and that’s all that matters. I’m just glad he didn’t get done like Bowden did this last year, I think he deserves the right to stay as long as he wants, but he had to have been close to being gone before the 2005 season as he ever was….

He's a much better head coach now.
He beat Penn State this year. Whoop de do. Anyone with a good defensive line could do that. He beat a great Iowa team. Whoop de do! Oh, without their starting quarterback and with a freshman who still got Iowa to overtime. Nevermind.
You’re gonna hate me saying this, but Tressel is like Joe Paterno in the late 90s: he beats teams that are physically inferior (such as Oregon), loses to teams that are physically superior, and struggles with teams that are about equal. You better hope recruiting keeps up.

why, what happens in the early 2000s?
I seem to remember canceling the football season for 2 years, starting it back up for one year, getting so mad at Big Ten officiating that we canceled it another 2 years, before finally deciding to give it another go.
by The JuggerNitt on Mar 16, 2010 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions
PSU didn't beat Iowa and we beat PSU, so I don't really see where you're going with that one.
Tressel has been a better coach since his arrival at OSU.
But “better” is all relative.

Fine: we beat them you didn't, and then we beat you with "arm punts" in your own house. It's really a black and white matter
Not cocky, just stating a simple and well-known truth.

First of all, that's racist. Racist.
Second, you didn’t beat us with arm punts. Clark’s completion percentage was in the low 40s. Pryor’s was 5 percent higher. You won because your defense dominated until you could establish a run game.
You sure have an interesting idea of “truths” in Ohio.

Yeah, that long bomb to posey was garbage.
Daryl Clark is a saaaad panda.
Close: It only counts in horse shoes, hang grenades and penn state football.

That long bomb was to Posey was a horrible throw. Same as his genius lofted pass to Ballard on a 3rd down against Oregon.
You can keep acting like Ohio State’s defense didn’t win in spite of Pryor, and I can keep smiling and shaking my head.

You're asking an OSU fan
to not be cocky? Seems like a waste of typing.
And with respect to what you said earlier, it’s not that they don’t respect PSU. They don’t respect anybody.
It never gets to be easy

No, they extra super special don't respect PSU because PSU fans have the ARROGANCE!! to assume that Ohio State fans care about Penn State, which is totally false, dude.

I figured they would have put a flag in that ring
since that is the only reason you won didn’t lose that game
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face
I find it funny how much trash PSU fans talk about the 2002/3 championship considering they haven't won to or been to one in decades

We "talk trash" about it because a) our Miami was the true Evil Miami everyone loves to hate, b) Terry Porter, and c) "Joe Poo" didn't have 30 grand tucked away for DJ Dozier to steal from Shane Conlan.

Ohio States National Championships in the past
1 decade: 1 (2002)
2 decades: 1
3 decades: 1
4 decades: 2 (1970)
Penn State’s National Championships in the past
1 decade: 0
2 decades: 0 (1 if you want to count 1994, which was better than any team OSU has put together for as long as I can remember)
3 decades: 2 (3 if you want to count 1994) (1982, 1986)
4 decades: 2 (4 if you want to count 1994 and 1973)
Undefeated seasons:
OSU in the past
1 decade: 1
2 decades: 1
3 decades: 1
4 decades: 1 (2 if you count a 0 loss, 1 tie season as “undefeated”)
PSU in the past
1 decade: 0 (F you Michigan refs)
2 decades: 1
3 decades: 2
4 decades: 3
OSU 0 and 1 loss teams in the last
1 decade: 2
2 decades: 4 (5 if you count a 1 loss, 1 tie team)
3 decades: 4 (5)
4 decades: 8 (9)
PSU 0 and 1 loss teams in the last
1 decade: 1
2 decades: 2
3 decades: 5
4 decades: 9
But yes, OSU is so clearaly superior to PSU.
Yes, PSU had an unusually bad stretch in from 2000-2004, and yes, that’s now part of our history and record, but outside of that stretch, PSU and OSU have been on the same level. Is your rivalry now and forever dead with Michigan because of the bad stretch they are currently going through? Will their bad stretch forever prevent them from being considered an “elite” school (worthy of such rivals of the mighty Buckeyes)? If/when OSU ever goes through a similar bad stretch (it has happened to pretty much every major program out there), will that discount everything they accomplished before, or since?

Did anyone read the bio?
“helping to guide the Nittany Lions to three bowl games, which included the Orange Bowl, the Outback Bowl and the Alamo Bowl”
With only 20 attempts on the year, only 2 of them coming in the final 10 games of the season, I feel like they may be overstating his contributions to the Orange Bowl team just a tad…
