And while NFL executives will watch today’s auditions en masse, we hear the same team is showing the most interest in Clark: Houston.
Word out of the Clark camp is he expects to hear his name called in the second or third round. ESPN Scouts Inc. draft aficionados project Clark as more of a late-round type, meaning sixth or seventh rather than second or third.
Does the Clark camp know something Mel and Todd don’t?

Didn't Todd call Clark an "interception machine"?
He’s got to back up his words.
And Mel Kiper’s a freak.
Yes!
Barely Clearly!

I would love to see him go that high, I’m not holding my breath, but I’d love to see him get some of that early round money.
Plus, who was the last QB from PSU drafted? Collins?
Do you want the mustache on, or off?
Too bad.
Wally Ricahrdson
the man, the myth, the legend
I still think Clark is lucky to be drafted period, not that I did not like him as a college QB, but seriously.
I don't think he's lucky to be drafted.
He’s an asset to any team, and can only go up in terms of usefulness. With a solid staff of coaching (not saying he hasn’t had that, but there are some things NFL coaches can do better), he can be a serious player in no time.
There was a kid out of Michigan a few years back that was drafted in like the 7th round that turned out to be OK. Forget his name though.
Milk-a-what?
I agree with you that he certainly could turn
out to be a decent NFL player. Outside of Brady, there are a number of other starting QB’s that came out of nowhere (Romo and old as dirt Warner comes to mind). However, at the end of the day, I would be surprised if Clark went above the 7th round, just my opinion.
Technically speaking
MRob was the last PSU QB to be drafted. The 49ers just decided to move him elsewhere.

also took snaps at QB, so I guess he counts too

I'm with you
I’m not holding my breath, but how freaking awesome would it be if he went before Tebow? I’d never stop laughing
As perhaps the world's only PSU/Texans fan
I would absolutely love to see this happen.

That does sound like a rare breed.
And I know the feeling. I loved when the Steelers grabbed AQ. Then let him go.

I mean I don't really trust the draft experts either
Or any sports “expert”. Even weekly picks they are terrible at.
But I dunno if I trust Clark’s “camp” either. According to my camp, I expect to hear my name called in the second to third rounds.
My camp has me hearing mid-first round rumblings, but eventually Brady Quinn-like falling to the 6th.
I take all of the sports pundits with a grain of salt, but the guys closest to the athlete would be the ones to say whats being told to the athlete, other than the athlete of course. That’s what we lawyers call triple, or even quadruple, hearsay. Either way, its encouraging to know that at least someone is taking a serious look at DC.
Milk-a-what?
I don't trust DC's camp anymore than ESPN
in fact, I trust ESPN more, because those guys have their reputations on the lines with their picks, but DC’s camp is trying to get him chosen as high as possible. Their hope is that if team A hears that Team B might take him in round 3, and he’s still around in round 4, maybe team A takes a shot.
With that said, its nice to see that DC’s draft status is improving.
I wouldn't trust old rooster me neither.
Yea, I see your point.
But Houston is talking to DC and his people. And I trust DC enough to know his people aren’t epic dbags. Mel and Todd are talking to Houston, and Houston will only tell them what they want. So there’s that. I trust each source about as much, which is little, but agree that its nice to see the man being mentioned with some good news attached. At least we’re not talking about “Tebow Unveils New Throwing Motion” news.
Milk-a-what?
Clark
Houston may like Clark a lot, but if they think nobody else is going to pick him until the 7th round if at all, they aren’t going to waste a third or fourth round draft pick on him. They will hold off until the 7th round, and even then they may let him go and see if they can sign him as an undrafted free agent.

Maybe Houston is just trying to create a Snyder v. Al Davis showdown.
Raiders 2010 Draft picks:
1st – Tebow
2nd – Legarette Blount
3rd – Clark
4th – Tebow
5th – Heyward-Bey
6th – Al Davis

evil, vile piece of crap
let’s stop posting his photo

Well the article didn't say Houston was showing the ONLY interest, just that they were showing the STRONGEST interest.
Maybe there’s a behind-the-scenes chatter that we’re not privy to that is getting higher and higher on Clark.
Milk-a-what?
I'm with you
It’s in Clark’s best interest to make it seem like there’s as much interest from as many teams as possible.
It worked for Michael Mitchell last year, where the “experts” graded him as a late-round to undrafted guy, but he ended up going in the 2nd round to Oakland. And while many people chalked it up to “Al is crazy,” there were a handful of teams that Kiper said admitted to him that if he was available in the 3rd, they were going to take him.
You don’t need the experts or a lot of teams to like you, you just need 1 or 2 teams to like you a lot and believe that 1 or 2 others do to.
Reach out; touch faith.
No matter what happens, I'm happy for him
He’ll always be one of my favorite players, and someone I’ll always support no matter where they end up (a la DWill, Butler, Poz, MRob, and so on…)
Good for him.
Whether he goes in the 3rd, 7th, or not at all, he’s a great representative of this program. Would take DC17 over….say…. Masoli from Oregon….. any day of the week!

Gary Kubiak knows something about QBs.
I’m surprised he would be interested in Clark as a potential third round pick. I look at Clark’s form and I see someone who’s a 5th-7th rounder, but maybe Kubiak thinks its easily fixable.
Good Point
…and whom ever hooked him up with Steve DeBerg to work on his motion/mechanics, well, lets just say they see ‘something’ promising…’cause DeBerg could be spending more of his time working with someone else instead.
