Michael Robinson for PSU football alumni of the year
Have any of you been reading Michael Robinson's blog? I know some of you follow him on Twitter, and I know I linked to a news article not long ago talking about his charity and all...but today's post is just amazing. I didn't want to put in the fanshots and have it get ignored, so I'll quote some:
See as a professional athlete, we have a responsibility to the young football players around the country. We have a responsibility to the game of football. The more knowledge we can give to the young athletes of today, the better football that will be played in the future. Something else I learned through this camp experience is how much we really are role models for these kids whether we like it or not. When I spoke at the camp the campers listened to my every word and tried their best to do exactly what I said. Some of the campers told me they wanted to be just like me when they grew up. I think for some professional athletes it is tough to come to that reality. The reality that young people are out there trying to be just like us so they watch and pay attention to our every move–good or bad. See that is the catch most of us do not realize or want to realize that fact. I feel it is easier to comprehend when you have children of your own because, if you are a mature adult, you think about your children before every action or decision you make knowing it will effect them in some way, shape or form. Just think if all professional athletes thought about their young fans before some of the decisions they make. I guarantee we would be in the news for more positive issues instead of negative ones.
Aww, look at you. You created a Fanpost! Any content from a premium site that requires a subscription will be deleted once we catch wind of it. If you simply want to share a link, quote, or video, please consider using Fanshots instead. Thanks.

I've followed him for a while
I don’t do it often with athletes but MR comes across as such a mature, honest person that he’s worthwhile reading. This was a great post.
I read Sanderson’s blog too, very inciteful.
I think I may be biased
I was at Penn State during the MRob era, so I feel he (and the rest of that team) “belongs” to me more than any other, but he has got to be my favorite Penn Stater of all time.
Him and DWill both
They have a special place in my heart.
Once Robinson’s pro career is over, I hope to see him still doing something with football after. Maybe he and DC can host a Penn State show together.
That was a great read!
I’ve added it to my favorites and will be following it from now on. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
For the glory
