Enjoy everyone.
I’ll be running the effing table in beer pong at a house party, so I’ll be keeping tabs when I can.

What kind of pong do you play?
Do you use paddles, or throw with your hands?
"So while while I may be douchy, I’m not rusty."
This will be my first time at this particular house, but I'm assuming standard hand rules.
Both the occupants are PSU buddies, and while the rules changed from house to house up there, we’ll probably go with a standard 6- or 10-cup arrangement.

For a fun twist
Use foam cups. TOTALLY different dynamic. Kinda fun, too.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

just realized fun was redundant. Sorry bout that.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

Sunder is an interesting intro guy.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
You mean Stanford's guy?
Ours was pretty funny. Stanford’s was awkward.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

That's two exceptionally questionable line calls I've already seen.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

Junny, you're the volleyball god of BSD
How can you schedule a conflicting party. That’s almost as bad as getting married on a football weekend!

Working it much better so far this set
Avoiding the unforced errors, making Stanford earn the points they win.
until the last 5 points.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

I debated posting for fear of jinxing it
Shoulda listened to myself.
Volleyball makes so little sense to me.
We can clearly compete with these guys, but then we give up 5-10 inexplicable points, and we can’t catch up. This is why I only watch football, basketball and soccer regularly. At least I can figure that out.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
Watch the quality of the first pass
How on-target that first pass is determines how many options the setter has for attacking, and therefore determines how many different options the defense has to try to prepare for. At this level, on a good first pass, the offense is almost unstoppable.
Interesting.
I’ll keep an eye out, even though it’s looking like this set’ll be over soon.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

Earning em now
That Lawson kid’s serves are ludicrous.
Yeah.
I’ve been thinking that since the first set. He’s hitting harder than I hit a golf ball.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
This is getting to be ludicrous.
It hardly looks like we should be here, or that we want to. Just like the first two sets of the women’s game.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
Make that worse than the first two sets of the women's game.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
but they came back...
…and so can the men…
"They say in Happy Valley that if God wasn’t a Penn State fan, why is the sky blue and white?" Fortt said. "Who am I to argue with God?"
I'm hoping for it.
Or at least a respectable set.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
Maybe neither?
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
Doing nothing to slow them down
This’ll be over soon.
I'm with you.
Next year…
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
What was Stanford's record three years ago?
I’m unclear on the subject.
I heard they were really good.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

We're getting our asses kicked here

I don't think you have a say in it when you're getting blasted like this.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."
-J.V.Pa.
I wish it at least looked more competitive.

I was thinking the same.
At least they’re now talking about our women.

I don't have sound
I’m watching it at a sports bar so I can see the Pens play, too.

Be glad, at this point.
There’s some awful-sounding band playing a song that I presume is about trees.

Apparently the 2011 National Championship
is in Happy Valley. That’ll be cool.
and they just said that on TV
I plan on going if we’re in it.

I might drive up from DC, assuming I'm not in the middle of finals.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

Epic FAIL.
I haven’t been this embarrassed in a long time.

I know,
Right now I can’t even console myself with, “At least we made it to the finals.”

I can. We had no business even making the final — I’m pretty surprised that we defeated Cal St-Northridge, let alone doing it in straight sets. We overall had some mediocre results against west coast teams this season and Stanford was the best of the bunch and we were playing on their home court.
This was not a great PSU men’s volleyball team and even the best ones aren’t shoo-ins to win a championship. We’ve only won the championship twice anyway. We basically make the final four every year just because we are the top team (by far) in the East but many years, like this one, we aren’t one of the top four teams in the country.
Not to worry
Nobody watches Mens Volleyball.
Besides, Stanford was just a superior team…congrats to the Cardinal (still one of the strangest team names in college sports, and what’s with the tree?)
I know we would
But we don’t even play them this year.
