I'm taking a class
taught by a guy with a Masters in Physics from Michigan. We had to go around the room and say our background. When I said I was from Penn State he chuckled and said “Oh, you guys have beaten us a few times lately, huh?”
Masters, eh
Just FYI, someone with a masters in one of the hard sciences basically took a year or so of graduate classes then dropped out. A masters is the pity fornication of the science degree world. It’s no mean feat to earn a bachelors then get into a program at Michigan, but no one goes into a graduate program looking to come away with a masters.
I say this because the douchea attitude is consistent with this sort of fellow.
That depends on your objectives.
I’ve been working full-time in industry for 10 years and am in the process of pursuing my M.Eng. in Polymer Science through a distance program. I had no intent when I started this endeavor to get my Ph.D. since I’ve already had plenty of research and writing experience.
that's about the only time Masters are not a "consolation prize"
but you are also working full time whilst doing it (and presumably getting your company to pay for it?)

yeah
I mean, I love Physics, but not as a major or a career. I feel like an engineering degree is a lot harder to get. Honestly what kind of burns me more is we hired a kid with a physics degree and gave him the title “project engineer”. Hate that.
Better than having an engineering directorate run by MBA's
Try talking missie engineering to an accountant. Oh well, he leaves us alone for the most part.
In honor of the day, everyone knock off early and celebrate
HATE!

That 2007 game was downright abysmal
It sucked, because Michigan, having just been beaten by a FCS school after being ranked in the top ten, embarrassed the conference on a Ohio State scale (who would continue that grand tradition at the end of that season), and we were losing to them. And it contained two of the most frustrating players I’ve ever had to watch play in Blue and White (Scott and Morelli who really decided to bring teh suck). That game was winnable (the score was very low), but we could do nothing on offense.
