Does anyone else think that our plans w/ Newsome are to run more w/ him and pass less? I think they had him drop back in the BW game for practice, but I fully expect to see an offense similar to Oregon’s or WVU.
The SpreadHD will be converted into lots of zone reads and short passes. He may be a 1500 yd passer and 1000 rusher this year.
I think Royster’s production will go up substantially as well for one reason: Newsome can and will be running a lot. DC17 was great and people attack our coaching for not letting him run – w/ the exception of on the goaline – last year….I understand why he didn’t run, we didn’t have a back up. This allowed defenses to key on Royster in running situations. Now, with Newsome scrambling all over it should open things up for Royster, more similar to 2 yrs ago when they let DC17 run the ball.
