I dont take too much credence in this sort of thing. It was written for the sole effect of selling SEC preview magazines. So its chum for the shark tank of SEC fans.

Do I agree that the SEC is the best CONFERENCE in the land? No, the evidence does not prove it. But I would agree that they have put the best TEAM in the land out there once in a while, so to people who know little about football or understand that sort of thing, the casual fan, they appear to be the best conference.

Its the same reason the Big Ten gets ragged on by the media, because our representative in these games was awful in those national contests. So again, to people who know little or understand less, the casual fan, we appear to be the worst.

that the guy who wrote that article (Andy Staples) went to an SEC school (Florida, I think), so it’s pretty much par for the course.
