One thing that I'm really getting tired of.....is hearing about "The Game" Give.....Me.....A.....Break. I like rivalries as much as the next guy and quite honestly think that the one between Ohio State and Penn State that has been developing is getting interesting. I love the rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan almost as much as they do, but all this whining and angst about when to play the game, and the possibility of a rematch and the people that don't want to see it is absolutely ridiculous and baseless. They act as though "The Game" is the most important game on the planet. Well guess what, it ain't THAT big a deal.
First of all, the game itself. This isn't your grandpa's Big Ten of Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler (is that spelled right?) of the 1950's anymore. in the last ten years or so, (yes, ten years, not just the RichRod era) Michigan has not been relevant in "The Game" which has not been instrumental in deciding the Big Ten title. Only recently has Michigan become a less than average team and irrelevant in the Big Ten in addition to "The Game". I will add, though, that I still like "The Game" and want it to go on year after year.
Second of all, how about that possibility of a rematch. Well, guess what again, the likelihood of Michigan and Ohio State winning their respective divisions in the same year is pretty slim and guess what for the third time, almost every Big Ten Championship is more likely to feature teams who met during the regular season then the possibility of a rematch of "The Game" in the Big Ten Title game.
Lastly, If Penn State were to lose to Iowa during the regular season (like they have for the last two) I would love the prospect of returning the favor in the Title game. I think a rematch is a great possibility.
So what do you think?
