I have learned 3 things are for sure, following the B10 Media Day(s):
1. Joe is old
2. B10 championship game will start next season
3. 9 conference games is going to be a reality (same link)
9 conference games is actually the most interesting part for me, because 9 conference games means there is a legitimate opportunity for us to maintain yearly meetings with Nebraska, Ohio State, and Michigan. I think it's reasonable to assume that those 3 teams and ours make for the most lucrative match ups in the conference*, so making sure they happen every season should be a top priority for the B10 execs. There's just no reason to leave that money on the table b/c scheduling is too hard -- and I think the 9 games is the means to that end.
Basically, if nothing else comes from the conference expansion, I'm more then happy. We get to crown a real champion every year. We get an extra meaningful conference game every season. We also have a great shot at protected series with Nebraska, Ohio State, and Michigan -- thru the magic of scheduling a 9 game conference schedule.
If the B10 gives us those things, I see this expansion as an overwhelming success and I sincerely hope we stop here for at least another 20 years.
*Yes I realize I've left out Iowa. They have a huge fan base and I'm sure they get great ratings for games. But they're Iowa, and I'm sick of losing to them every year and I hope they're off our schedule until Ferentz becomes our next head coach retires.

I'm willing to bet the farm McGloin won't be named the starter against Alabama, and if it does happen I'll wear a Pitt Jersey to the next home game (51 votes)
