An open letter to the 2010 Penn State football team

My name is ReadingRambler. I love Penn State football. I have always loved Penn State football. I will always love Penn State football. This love has led to loyalty for the other teams and respect for the university itself (An extension of my love for Pennsylvania); something I share with my family despite the fact that none of us attended Penn State. No matter what happens, we are Penn State. We still have the 1987 Fiesta Bowl. We are better than anyone else because they are not Penn State.
Penn State didn't get screwed too much tonight. I will always think the Big Ten is full of it when they say they protected rivalries without geography, but it could be much, much worse. I make one request of you boys: beat Michigan by, like, 50 this year. They (And Ohio State, but I could care less, they'd just pretend to be giddy if they weren't) are giddy. Giddy. They got all of what they wanted. Minnesota? Check. Ohio State at the end of the year with the chance of a rematch? Check. MSU? Check. Smugness of Dave Brandon protected? Check.
In the end, nothing changes. UM still needs to be utterly defeated. Joe Paterno must never lose to Rich Rodriguez and the sacred task of ensuring this falls to you.

I think I had this figured out about a minute after I posted that.
Senior, 1999, O-line, not a lot to choose from. Plus I’m a researcher in addition to being a teacher, so I got skillz!

Yeah, not a lot of choices…I also said I never lost to Iowa in a game I played in. (I was injured during the 1996 game my freshman year) One of the 4 or 5 games I missed in my career.
Also, if any of you get the PSU football media guide, it shows the current location and occupation of all former lettermen. My username could give it away.

I get to see them walking down the hallway, and occasionally walk by me
when I go into rec hall for my racquetball class Tuesday and Thursday (they have practice then), and I’m happy even doing that. Speaking of which: good god, Blair Brown is tall.

As for Pennsylvania, I’ve never called anywhere else home. Lehigh Valley, Reading, State College and now Philadelphia. Why live anywhere else?
