While in State College last Saturday I had a great dinner at Spat's and spent a week's pay on more PSU officially licensed gear. During my cruise of College Ave. I noticed that Great Big Sea is playing the State Theatre on Wednesday, September 22. I saw these guys for the first time sometime in the mid-90's at the Chameleon in Lancaster. They. Were. Awesome.
GBS has moved a little away from their traditional sea shanty tunes. They used to be just four Canadian guys playing traditional celtic acoustic instraments with some awesome four part harmonies. While that aspect is still part of their repertoire, they are a bit more rockin' now. I missed their visit to Virigina on their current tour, so seeing that they'l be in SC was kind of bittersweet.
Hope someone sees them and reports back.
