PSU bar in Portland, Oregon
I'm moving to the Portland, Oregon area this weekend. Does anyone know of a good place to watch PSU games in the Portland, Oregon area? I checked but the Oregon chapter of the alumni association appears to be inactive. I won't have cable or internet hooked up yet, so I need to find someplace that won't be overcrowded with Oregon fans as they play Tennessee at the same time as PSU-Alabama this weekend. Thanks

Portland Bars
Maybe I’m out of the loop, but I’ve been living in the Portland area for about a year and I haven’t found any sort of Penn State Bar. Personally, some of my favorite sports bars in town are Claudia’s Sports Bar, The Cheerful Bull Pen, Life of Rileys, and Blitz Ladd (but I think this may be a Buckeye bar so beware!)
As far as finding a sports bar that isn’t over crowded with Ducks, good luck!
Personally, I’m going to try a downtown spot called 4th Downtown Bar and Grill. I’ve never been there before, so I can’t vouch for it, but it’s fairly new (so hopefully not so crowded), and it’s close to where I have to be RIGHT after the game. So if you’re looking for someone to watch the game with, feel free to swing on by………
Unless of course, someone knows where the elusive Penn State Bar is in Portland, which in that case, I’ll see you there.
Cactus Jacks
The PSU bar is Cactus Jacks at
4342 Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway
in Portland.
Its actually a pretty cool place. Not too crowded, cheap, and decent food. I met a guy there once who graduated PSU before Joe started coaching. Hah.
Welcome to Portland
I don’t head out to see the games with the PSU group much anymore, but I still get the email notices.
This old post has the details of the location.
This week could be a good crowd. The Penn State Lady Lion Soccer team will be in town for games on the 10th and 12th and according to Lou of the local chapter:
Soccer update: Last week when I spoke with one of the coaches, they stated that they planned to join us for the Bama game on Sept. 11. Things may change, but I will be back in touch with them this week before they arrive on Thursday.
Latest news from Lou
Even though the game is being covered nationally, I hope you will travel over to Cactus Jacks to join the Lady Lion Soccer team who is in town to play Washington today (Friday) this afternoon and the Lady Pilots on Sunday afternoon. In speaking with the coach, unless something changes tonight or early tomorrow, the team is expected to join us in the back room at CJs. It would be nice to have a big turn-out so we can convince the athletic department that trips to play teams in the west would be supported strongly by the local clubs.
