Ultimate Transition Season Takeaway
This was a transition year on and off the field for our Lions and for me. We went from an upperclassmen led team with some fire but no killer instinct to... eh, I'm so down about this year right now I just need to let it go for a couple weeks to let it all congeal into some sort of hate/hope goo that sits on the bottom of the baking pan of my fandom.
What was really important this year for me was the opportunity to fully integrate my two kids into my blue and white lifestyle. We had season tickets this year - for the first time in forever - and my 2 and 3 year olds went to every game with us...

I never made it through a whole game in my seat...
I never got to see the Phyrst Family or hit the bars after the game...
I had to spend as much time apologising for inadvertent kicking as cheering...
I saw more Tailgreat cheerleaders than Tailgate chuglines...
And my daughter got a new boyfriend...

As we all watched the McFavre train implode on Saturday, the high pitched WE ARE PENN STATE cheers at the house softened the blows a little and reminded me that passing along my love of a great university and passion for a singular way of doing things is one of the important things...
So is looking where you're throwing the ball over the middle, but that's a different story...

Thank You!!!!
This is what the true meaing of PSU football is, Charlie Brown. Thanks for reminding all of us. This offseason has the makings of a rough one with the rumors flying and the sky falling. Hopefully we remember your post from time to time and think of why we all love PSU and the Nittany Family.
We Are!!!
I get the paper. I go to the bathroom. I take the paper in there and I scan it. I look at it. The first thing I do is look at who died. All right. Second thing I look at are headlines. Something that says, "Paterno is the Greatest," I read it. -JVP
Easiest rec all week.
Never thought I’d be passing out recs during this train wreck of a week.

For sure. Necessary post for perspective.

As down as I am on the program right now
I fully intend to renew my season tickets and can’t wait to take my son to his first PSU game next fall. It’s still the best way I can imagine spending a Saturday in the fall.
Totally different experience with the kids...
But completely awesome… seeing that big stadium through their eyes was pretty cool. Games at naptime are kind of hard – as is explaining why Nittany Lion didn’t point at them – but its an experience I’m thrilled to pass on and really enjoy.
Hopefully we’ll get a chance to move around a bit in the stadium and get under the north end zone roof – too much sun or too much rain make the childrens cranky. I never thought that high end zone seats would be my first choice…

Haha, I remember when I was really young
I’d always fall asleep at around halftime
eventually it became the third quarter
and then I made it to a full game
you’re giving your kids a great experience, for sure :)

No prob...
Emme got a pretty positive reception for her WE ARE PENN STATE video cheer to start the season so I thought it was appropriate to post the season update…

Truly. Amazing.
Singular, yet plural; first Monday of the New Year post offsets 800+ spewed comments of ill disgust and impatience – for some…still yet to be learned.
Experience is Expensive; and as in many aspects of life, the payoff is an inverse relationsship if you rush it.
Thank you brubby for the share!

Made my Lunch - Thank you
My son is 14 months and I can’t wait for him to start enjoying football and tailgating with friends and family.
Cheers to you and yours.
Thank You!
I can’t wait to have kids so I can start brainwashing taking them to PSU games.

Awesome!
My son is 22 months old and he has been doing the lion roar since he was about a year old. He looks at anything Penn State and says “Football!” I am so excited to share the game experience with him one day. I’ve been to enough bars and chugged enough beer in my life that I too can give it up in place of seeing PSU football through the eyes of a child! Cheers!

My kids are kind of the opposite...
in that they see anything related to football and say “Penn State!!!”. It could be the Houston Texans playing and my three year old will say “Daddy is watching Penn State!” In fact, for awhile he would say that even when we drove past some high school or peewee team practicing (this is TX, so that’s all the time). For them, all football = Penn State, the two are synonymous. Thank goodness, because I don’t want my kids thinking the Longhorns are what football is all about.
