I’m sick of people saying this is the "worst 8-1 team in the country" and "they shouldn’t have won." Are you kidding me? PSU has a top 5 defense, one of the best we’ve seen in a while.
The defense is holding opponents to 16.5 points below their averages and no opponent has reached their average against PSU.
This team held Illinois to 19+ points below their average and over 100 yards less than their average. Not to mention Scheelhaase finished w/ 91 fewer total yards than he normally does.
This isn’t "the worst" 8-1 team in the country; but I’m not saying it is the best either. The offense needs a lot of work.
Fortunately, you only need to score 10 if your opponent can only get 7.
