Daily Nebraskan - Letters from Penn State
Saw this on reddit tonight and thought it was worth sharing:
While I'm not one of the letter writers, I will agree with each and every one of them. I can't imagine sharing a game like Saturday with a better fanbase. So thank you, Nebraska.
To get this to the requisite 75 words, I will share my Nebraska fan experience. Some little kid (maybe around 5-6) was two rows behind me. This kid was born to be a Nebraska fan; pure ginger. Reddest hair I've ever seen. Also had the loudest, shrillest set of lungs I've heard in a while, and knew how to use them. But as persistently loud as this kid was, it was impossible to get mad at him. He was just too damn cute. So there you go Nebraska. Props to being classy, and for brainwashing your fans at an early age.

We get'em early :)
Jim Jones comparisons are not totally inappropriate. :P
But we definitely appreciate the letters that have flooded our newspapers, certainly we’ve never seen something like that. While I wasn’t in Happy Valley, every account I’ve heard from Husker fans has been that they were treated exceptionally well. Complete night and day from our other “big” road game in Madison earlier this year.
"My hardest job is to convince the people of Nebraska that 10-1 is not a losing season." - Tom Osborne
I sat in the Husker section.
Several told me they would tell their friends to visit Happy Valley. All told me not to visit Madison.
"Every player we have, someone-maybe a parent, a grandparent, someone-poured their soul into that young man. They are handing that young man off to us. They are giving us their treasure, and it's our job to make sure we give them back that young man intact and ready to face the world."

I've heard bad things about Madison
apparently Bret Bielema has passed along his smug douchebaggery to the fans
Defense wins championships

I am afraid of what our players will face there
I do not see Bertie encouraging students and fans to show respect.
However, I have some hope for Ohio State. Tressell did act with class and restraint, and I think Fickell will do the same. I hope it spills over to fans and especially students.
Today is the day I died inside 11/9/11
I would certainly not hold out any hope for O$U
They have some of the worst fans. I’ve been to multiple PSU games at the ‘Shoe and it’s not a very friendly atmosphere. I went with my dad a few years back and didn’t feel comfortable wearing any PSU gear.
So confused
O$U, class and restraint in one posting … and no sarcasm font. I need Advil.

I'm going to PSU-Wisky
and I’m getting more and more wary with each passing day. I’m not an instigator and I’ll be with three generations of family, but any fanbase that supports Bielema can’t have half an ounce of class or decorum. I’ll be on high alert.

Give peace a chance.
To those of you worried about the atmosphere at away games. I understand it. I’d be a little nervous, too, if I had the luxury of being able to go. But I’d also suggest leaving open the possibility that MOST of the people who root for OSU and Wisconsin aren’t monsters, but a lot more like us. I can remember some embarrassing incidents involving the way our fans treated visitors several years ago, including an OSU and a Notre Dame game. (We won’t even get into throwing beer on the College Game Day crew.) I’ve been very heartened by how much better we’ve been treating visitors this year: Alabama, Iowa, Nebraska … all of them. As for Wisconsin: I’m not a fan of Bielema either. But if we spend our time before the Wisconsin game telling their fans they don’t have an ounce of class, I wonder how much we’re doing to promote a cordial atmosphere. Call me naive if you like. I’m just saying that at a time like this, I’m hoping for the best from everybody.
