YAY HOOPS: Penn State vs. Kentucky Live Game Thread (So, You're Telling Me There's a Chance?)

[Damn it, we've crossed the streams.  Make this your noon football open thread, too. - CG]

And the much-anticipated day has finally arrived: Penn State faces its stiffest challenge yet, when they take on a 2nd-ranked Kentucky team that can pretty much pick and choose the nation's best recruits. And my, do they have their share of top-notch recruits already making an impact in freshmen Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (13.5 ppg, 8 rpg) , Marquis Teague (14 ppg 3.5 apg), and Anthony Davis (18.5 ppg, 8 rpg). Not to mention sophomore studs Doron Lamb (16 ppg, 4.5 apg) and Terence Jones (11.5 ppg, 8 rpg) finishing out what accounts for one of the best starting five in the country right now. The Wildcats are coming off an impressive ten-point win against Kansas earlier this week, whereas PSU is coming off a hard-fought win against a Long Island team that flirted with an upset bid before succumbing to a late PSU run.

If you like watching the best talent college basketball has to offer, this game is for you. If you like watching a young, talented, group of underdogs with ATTITUDE, this game is also for you. For those of you trying to convince yourself that PSU has a chance, well..let's just say you're more likely to find Charlie Sheen living in a sober house.

Tip-off is at 12:00 PM ET on ESPN3.com. Unlike BTN.com, ESPN3's webcast is free (provided you're subscribed to a local cable operator, already), so watching this one should be a lot easier. There's also Steve Jones/Dick Jerardi on the Penn State Radio Network if you can't be in front of a computer.

As always, the same thread rules apply: No racism/sexism/homophobia/death threats, no porn (no, Rambler, not even of the 1900's B/W silent film variety), no streams of this game other than the ESPN3 broadcast, and no trolling.

Actually I don't think the problem is them being taller/more athletic

Penn State just looks absolutely lost on the court. They have no idea how to handle Kentucky’s man-to-man defense

Yep, need to maintain perspective.

This team is going to struggle all year – so many frosh, a new coach/system, and (let’s be honest) a limited amount of talent. Kentucky, on the other hand, is unquestionably one of the best teams in the country. Would like to see them get their legs and make the final score a bit more respectable in the second half.
