Penn State Depth Chart & Injury Report: Wisconsin
Full? Yeah. Me too. Let's do this...
Official Penn State Injury Report
TE Garry Gilliam - knee - out
DE Pete Massaro - knee - out
LB Michael Mauti - knee - out
RB Pat Zerbe - knee - out
Very clean week. No new players are added to the injury report, while Silas Redd has moved off.
Penn State Depth Chart
Things look more interesting with Curtis Drake and Bill Belton now playing major roles in the quarterback/running games. So much so that I've had to create a new position for them to fill out. Check it out below the break...
Enjoy those leftovers!

Inasmuch as the key to beating Wisconsin is the combination of run defense and not shooting yourself in the face with turnovers
How much better would we feel about this game if Mauti were healthy?
GO IOWA AWESOME, now and forever, until PSU sees them in basketball and wrestling

I often wonder...
If you ask me, Massero was a far bigger loss than Mauti. Massero may have given this defense enough to be top 1 or 2 ever in our program’s history. The one thing, maybe the only thing we’re missing right now is a pass rush with just our 4 down linemen. If Massero was healthy you are basically adding another LB b/c we wouldn’t need to blitz.
Anyway, the flashlights eat our human power grids, our souls if you will. So i destroyed them, and if a few precious panties were burnt or soiled in the reckoning then so be it
Perhaps
But to me, one of this season’s pleasant surprises has been the DEs. Last year they were a liability. This year they are solidly-above-average to very good. They aren’t getting a lot of sacks, but they play excellent contain, apply pressure, and don’t miss many tackles. I don’t see a set of DEs in the country I would trade PSU’s for.

I can't help but wonder what if they start letting our wildcat QBs start throwing the ball
That could make the offseason competition a little more interesting. We could have 5 potential QBs, is that better than 2?
I don't want to see it this week
because (1) the TO battle should decide the game and (2) Wisconsin’s run defense is not good, but it would be interesting to see Drake run the zone read

Diagree a bit...
Defensively, continue as-is and throw in a few more blitz packages. When flustered, Wilson is susceptible to TO’s. Yes, offensively – pound the Redd/Geen combo…but…I feel we must introduce something new (wild lion, etc.) in order to keep their defense on its high heels. Although it pains me to state this, Mac will, in all probability, throw one INT…I’m afraid unless we throw the entire friggin kitchen sink at ‘em, they’ll pull an Illini 2nd Half on us and start throwing darts.
In short:
(1) Play to win and with NOTHING to lose
(2) When in doubt, refer to OSU win last week
I need some more confidence -- somebody help me.
The line hasn’t moved off 14.5 and I’m starting to think Vegas might have it right.

Something's gotta give
Wisconsin has looked very average against above average defenses. Penn State has a great one.
Wisconsin has looked incredible at home. They are at home.

The line was -6 on the OSU game
we covered for our win.
This means we win by 14
Here’s How….: Wild Lion with Belton and Drake snap to Drake, Flea Flicker to Belton, and a 65 yd bomb to Devon Smith.
Next would be a half back past from like 2 years ago with Redd/Green lined up as the upback
Also 2005 era when Scott ran for 131 mostly on the quick handoff from the up position, have Green, Drake, Belton, et al line up with Redd in the backfield
I guarantee one of those plays, McGloin throws less than 20 times.
Predicting Penn State's Offensive Scripts since 2005!
considering we've only let three opponents score more than 14 points TOTAL
I don’t think staying within 14 should be unexpected.
Fire Dan Snyder
Ive been wondering
who do you think we lose from transfers after this off-season? I think the sooner we know about our future HC the better. I would hope everyone stays but its likely we lose a few from the combination of a coaching change and the scandal.
