Big Ten Preview: Week 10

Yes Brett, you did just lose on another last second Hail Mary.

So Wisconsin has fallen pretty had these past two weeks, and now the Big Ten race is wide open. The games this week won't do much to clear up the picture unless there are some major upsets.

Game of the Week:

Purdue Boilermakers 4-4 (2-2) @ Wisconsin Badgers 6-2 (2-2) - 3:30 PM on ABC
Last Week: Purdue lost 36-14 Wisconsin lost 33-29
Favorite: Wisconsin (-26 o/u 58)
All Time Series: Wisconsin leads 41-29-8

Wisconsin returns home after two tough road losses to Michigan State and Ohio State. Purdue still has an outside shot at winning the division and needs to win out in order to reach the title game. Wisconsin has played much better at home than on the road this year, and Purdue's inconsistent play all season should make it an easy win for Wisconsin.

Prediction: Wisconsin - 48 Purdue - 24

All the Rest:

Minnesota Golden Gophers 2-6 (1-3) @ Michigan State Spartans 6-2 (3-1) - 12 PM on BTN
Last Week: Minnesota won 22-21 MSU lost 24-3
Favorite: MSU (-28 o/u 47)
All Time Series: MSU leads 26-17

Minnesota somehow managed to beat the Hawkeyes last week to earn their first, and possibly only, win in the Big Ten this year. Michigan State comes into this game after a terrible showing in Lincoln and needs a win to keep pace in the Legends division. Minnesota doesn't have a chance in this game.

Prediction: MSU - 38 Minnesota - 10

Indiana Hoosiers 1-8 (0-5) @ Ohio State Buckeyes 5-3 (2-2) - 12 PM on BTN
Last Week: Indiana lost 59-38 OSU won 33-29
Favorite: Ohio State (-28 o/u 51.5)
All Time Series: OSU leads 67-12-5

Indiana managed to wrest away the title of the worst Big Ten team this year on the heels of an ugly loss to Northwestern. Ohio State picked up their best win of the season against Wisconsin last week, and should finally pull their Big Ten record above .500 with a win this week.

Prediction: OSU - 34 Indiana - 18

Michigan Wolverines 7-1 (3-1) @ Iowa Hawkeyes 5-3 (2-2) - 12 PM on ESPN
Last Week: Michigan won 36-14 Iowa lost 22-21
Favorite: Michigan (-4 o/u 57)
All Time Series: Michigan leads 40-12-4

Michigan has the type of offense that could give Iowa's defense fits. The Hawkeye defense has struggled at times this year, and Michigan has found a new weapon in the form of RB Fitzgerald Toussaint. I expect this to be a fairly high scoring game, as both teams have good offenses and suspect defenses.

Prediction: Michigan - 38 Iowa - 35

Northwestern Wildcats 3-5 (1-4) @ Nebraska Cornhuskers 7-1 (3-1) - 3:30 PM on BTN
Last Week: NW won 59-38 Nebraska won 24-3
Favorite: Nebraska (-18 o/u 64)
All Time Series: Nebraska leads 3-1

Northwestern kept their slim bowl hopes alive last week with a win against Indiana. Those bowl hopes are going to take a hit this week though as a better version of the Wildcat offense is going to carve up the porous Wildcat defense.

Prediction: Nebraska - 42 NW - 24
