National Recap: Week Ten
We knew going into the weekend that by the end of Saturday, the number of unbeaten teams would be down at least one. As it turns out, Alabama would be the only unbeaten team to take a loss this week. Oklahoma State fended off a spirited effort from Kansas State, and the rest held serve fairly easily.
Games of Note
(1) LSU Tigers @ (2) Alabama Crimson Tide
Final Score: LSU 9 - Bama 6 (OT)
I will say this: As games with no touchdowns go, this one was immensely more entertaining than the several others I have seen. The defenses on display on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa were both fast, physical, and disciplined (aside from Tyrann Mathieu being a jackass). On the flip side of the coin, neither offense looked particularly good, and LSU's quarterback play was simply atrocious.
(17) Kansas St. Wildcats @ (3) Oklahoma St. Cowboys
Final Score: OSU 52 - KSU 45
This game was the opposite of LSU-Alabama. Both teams traded leads from the start, with OSU scoring the winning touchdown with about 2:30 left in the 4th quarter. K-State ended up getting the ball inside the Cowboy 10 yard line with less than 12 seconds left, but failed on three straight plays to tie the game. Okie remains undefeated, and just passed their tallest remaining hurdle before their showdown with Oklahoma.
(10) South Carolina Gamecocks @ (8) Arkansas Razorbacks
Final Score: Piggy 44 - USC 28
Without Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina was only able to muster 79 rushing yards on 33 carries against an Arkansas defense that's allowed 176 yards on average. Thanks for coming to the party, Gamecocks. As for Arkansas, they're lined up well to spoil LSU's season when they meet in the regular season finale.
(20) Arizona St. Sun Devils @ UCLA Bruins
Final Score: UCLA 29 - ASU 28
The same UCLA team that was smoked by Arizona is still alive for the division title. The Pac-12 South, everyone!
(23) Cincinnati Bearcats @ Pittsburgh Panthers
Final Score: UC 26 - Pitt 23
Cincinnati won the game despite converting only two of 13 third downs. Man, the Big East is AWESOME.
The Rest of the Top 25
(4) Stanford Cardinal 38 - Oregon St. Beavers 13
(5) Boise St. Broncos 48 - UNLV Rebels 21
(6) Oregon Ducks 34 - Washington Huskies 17
(7) Oklahoma Sooners 41 - Texas A&M Aggies 25
(14) Houston Cougars 56 - UAB Blazers 13
(18) Georgia Bulldogs 63 - New Mexico St. Aggies 16
(21) USC Trojans 42 - Colorado Buffaloes 17
Louisville Cardinals 38 - (24) West Virginia Mountaineers 35

Why couldn't Alabama make that many mistakes when they played against us?
I honestly only saw a few plays that made it seem like LSU’s defense was that much better than ours. Everything else the teams did seemed pedestrian.
Happened to see a few plays of Houston/UAB while eating dinner at BRGR in Cranberry.
Looked like there were maybe 8000 at that game. Pathetic.
I think you are WAY overstating it.
But I was there (for the first half)!

Alabama was still the superior team overall
They were driving to take the lead when they ran a trick play with a gimpy WR throwing the ball. This was worse than the obligatory slow developing reverse that PSU would run in such a situation.
Overall, Bama’s offense moved the ball much more effectively than LSU but could not capitalize on chances.
I agree completely.
But….LSU won so they deserve all that comes with it.
I agree but......
I am not the first to write this, but I once wasted a saturday afternoon at PSU where the final score was IOWAY 6-PSU-4 and it was in no way a classic as we had at least 4 opportunities to score from the opponents 15 yd line on in….Robbie Gould couldn’t make field goal “chippies” from there and the experts have declared the LSU-Bama game an “instant classic”….Hmmmmm. I won’t watch it again.
