This weekend has been a sickening, one and this won't end quickly or quietly.
A once respected and revered man within the Penn State community has been accused of using his charitable foundation to target and prey upon unsuspecting young boys.
The larger debate since then has revolved around the actions and reactions of Curley, Shultz, Joe Paterno and Mike McQueary. Fanpost after fanpost has been put up so that we could throw our opinions into the fray and debate them.
This won't be that type of fanpost, so I thank you in advance for keeping any of that discussion out of this thread. Instead, I'd like to focus on what we, as the Penn State Community, can do to
1) Help the victims in this case
and
2) Do our best to make sure that things like this never happen again, anywhere
If you are like me, you don't know the first place to turn to give your time or money. Obviously, trust is an extremely important aspect in finding, donating to, or establishing any sort of charitable organization. If anyone knows of any organizations that we can give to, please discuss them here. In addition, please use this thread to discuss any other ideas and or actions that we can take to help victims of childhood sexual abuse.
These events have been embarrasing and sickening. It doesn't have to stay that way. Let's turn the negative into an overwhelming positive.
