Hypothesis/Something I'm working on. I have written conformation that Tim Curley is Joe Paterno's immediate supervisor. I believe, that Schultz was Tim Curley's immediate supervisor.

The link is to a picture. I believe it shows the administrators are shown in order of their pecking order. Shultz's position is represented by Albert G. Horvath, Senior Vice President for Finance and Business/Treasurer, who held that job previously.

If anybody could help out here, we might be able to help the old man.

The question sounds it, but please don't read the tone as snoody, it's not.

What does would this prove?

It would prove that there is an entire level of administration above Joe Paterno.

And that three members of it were aware of the charges. And the picture is the proof.

Top governing body is the board of trustees

http://www.psu.edu/trustees/membership.html

those are the people in charge and at the top. That is the ultimate governing body. Spanier answers to them

I'm not 100% sure on how they operate

Sorry to use a political reference, but I think the Board of Trustees is like the president, and Spanier is like the General in charge of the war.

The General ultimately makes his own decisions, and has free reign.

Maybe there is more importance in the 1998 investigation that we don’t know, hell, maybe it has to do with Gricar. And that bit of knowledge getting out would be an even bigger blow.

I hope so

I’m glad that you posted this. It makes me feel much better about the prevailing theory that I was going with. Namely, Joe correctly reported it to the people in charge. He probably followed up. But when he got the same answer that the Second Mile got, namely, they investigated and found no wrong doing, he was satisfied that they had competently done their jobs.

Maybe thats not enough. For some people it definitely isn’t. I will continue my wait and see approach here though.

probably not, but the PSU general counsel knew which makes me think at least some of the BOT knew. This entire thing is so far above Joe and what he could have done. He could not have done crap if those above him stonewalled it.

If Joe is the person we believe he is

If the BOT force him out and try to shame him (which looks like it is) I think he will do what is needed to clear his name. I don’t think he will do anything more to damage the University, he loves it too much, but he is also a very prideful man and will do what he needs to set the record straight. At least, that is my opinion.

One tool suggestion

Websites are, obviously, not static collections of information. You can check out older versions of many of them that were snapped periodically at the Internet Wayback Machine here: http://www.archive.org/web/web.php Just plug in the website you’re interested in.

Incidentally, this also serves as a reminder that everything you do on the Internet will be there forever, or at least you should believe that it will.

the officer in charge of the 98 case retired and is not talking to the press

don’t know if he spoke to the GJ, but I would guess that yes he did. They don’t have to release what he said. They only released what they needed for indictment. Do you really think the only thing Joe said was he bumped it up the chain and the AG didn’t follow that up with more? Anyone that thought or thinks that sure doesn’t have a clue. Also, the GJ release is probably a drop in the bucket vs the info that was obtained.

Interesting stuff ,,,

While this poses some serious questions, one question stands out above all … If this specific scenario were to actually play out (and Joe is proven to 100 percent NOT part of any alleged cover up) who is the best qualified person to lead PSU out of this mess going forward? And I’m talking about the institution as a whole, not the football program.

Think about it. There are plenty of people that won’t like it, but there’s really only one answer.

I know it may seem hard to imagine, but if three top-level university officials were to sanction “buying” the silence of a child who had been raped, this scandal would take a much more drastic turn for the worse. And then all of a sudden, the man so many insisted MUST go, NEEDS to stay.

For what it’s worth, I think this is a flight of fancy but who knows. I commend Jesse’s train of thought here. Like someone else said, at least he’s trying.

You see that thing over there? That was the point. You missed it.

ONE person on the flowchart could have truly solved this.

ONE person had enough clout in town to get the campus, town, county and state police involved.

ONE person could have said to Jerry Sandusky, “Turn yourself in and get help” and had a chance of being heeded.

ONE person could have said, “We will find those kids and we will help them.”

That ONE person is not one of the 20 people ahead of Paterno on the flowchart.

There is legal and there is right. Joe did what was legal. He didn’t do what was right. Not by a damn country mile.

Police Flow Chart

A flow chart like the one on the current University Park Police website from back in 2002 would go a long way in showing Joe actually did go to the police when he spoke to Schultz. If you could come up with that, you might actually get the attention of a reputable national journalist. If one exists.
