Ladies and gentlemen,
First and foremost, the managers, editors and authors of Black Shoe Diaries want to express our unending support for the victims in this tragic scenario. Their plight has been buried in all of this in favor of "sexier" headlines, and that's a terrible side effect of the current state of media in this country.
Secondly, we want to commend you on the way you, the readers/commenters, have handled yourselves through this awful period of Penn State history. It hasn't been easy on any of us, yet we haven't had too many issues on the blog to deal with. Discussions have been heated, sure, and charged with issues we never thought we'd have to discuss. But for the most part, they've been handled with civility and decency. For that, we thank you.
Thirdly, we also want to commend the commenters and readers that are visiting us from other fanbases. So far, the support you have shown is quite surprising, and we haven't had to deal with too many troll-like activities. From Notre Dame to Texas Tech to West Virginia to, of all places, Ohio State, message boards around the country have been civil, at least. And those that have specifically ventured over here have been supportive and we hope they continue to engage us in our difficult times.
However, times are going to get tough. Right now, emotions are all over the map. But as this story dies down on the front pages of newspapers and from the leads of the nightly news broadcasts, things could get ugly around here.So we're asking you to maintain your decorum moving forward, but mostly we are asking you to help us keep this blog regulated.
As news moves on an almost hourly basis, we can't possibly be everywhere. Please keep your discussions civil, keep your comments thought out, and do not hesitate to contact us if something or someone is acting in a manner that goes against this site's Terms of Service. We hate that we have to reiterate these rules, but this will undoubtedly be a hotbed for controversy and divergent viewpoints. If we can all stay relatively cordial, there won't be any issues moving forward.
Obvious irony aside, if you see that a commenter, be that a seasoned veteran or newly registered user, is acting in a manner you find inappropriate, contact us immediately. Please help us to keep this great site running smoothly, and I'm sure we can all get through this.
Thank you again, and we look forward to bringing you continued coverage as events unfold.
