and, IIRC
he said something to the effect of “suck up and stab me”.
It was Chris Bell (aka “Stabby McShankerson”), who then left. And is now on the Skins, just got called up to the regular squad before being lost for the season to injury.
From all appearances, Bell & Still got over it and still interact, in a good way, on twitter.
Please someone correct me if any of this is wrong.

So all I’ll say is that it’s neither injury nor transfer related. Pretty meh if you ask me, at least from what we know so far.

Apparently the fight that took place was serious enough to call the EMS.
Still don’t know who was involved. I hope it was the two skinniest, whitest guys on the team (Sam Ficken has to be one) and the EMS was precautionary. We all need a good laugh.

What kind of suspension rules apply in a situation such as this?
Would both players be suspended? Neither? Only the instigator? Coin flip?

Basically, from what I heard..
McGloin/Drake were going back and forth in practice. Drake came up afterwards to make amends in the locker room, and for whatever reason, it made McGloin mad and he might have thrown a punch. Drake responded in kind and hit him and it was kind of like a bam, one shot and over type dealy. Unfortunate, but stuff like that happens in football.

but I did LOL just a bit when I saw that Drake him him once and McG was out. Apparently McG picked the wrong guy to mess with.

True life.
Read an article by Chuck Liddell a while back on bar fighting “tips.” His first tip was 1) don’t do it (because it’s always dumb) but his second tip was that one well-placed punch is better than a barrage of fists.
Still, this is awful. I think both guys need suspended, at least. Can’t have this when there’s already a ton of problems in the program. It really stinks for them both.
by AlmostAYardShy on Dec 17, 2011 3:54 PM EST up reply actions
Oh, I understand
If I got hit, I’m sure it would be the same thing. I think it was just how I read it. Ya know, Drake wants to apologize, McGloin doesn’t like it and tries to be tough and then Drake ends it. Does that make sense?

I'm intrigued.
Why is it offensive? Silly? Sure. But the message is that diet isn’t only for women, which has been the case in the past (from a marketing standpoint, and there is probably some data to back it up as well).
Pro-guys, as silly as that sounds, doesn’t necessarily mean anti-women. And vice versa of course.
Dark Knight feeling, die and be a hero-or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.-Jay-Z
No, it flat out says "Dr Pepper 10 isn't for women"
not “it’s for men”. “it’s not for women.” that’s saying that women shouldn’t buy it, trying to alienate the female portion of society.
Honestly I’m pretty sure they didn’t intend it that way. But I know I’m not the only one who took it that way. And you would think that focus groups would have suggested something to the effect.
Also, I find it telling that the only time I’ve seen this commercial is during football—more male-driven entertainment. If it was gender neutral, they would have attached it to more gender neutral programming.
Fire Dan Snyder
It's possible that your taking it a bit too literally.
...may we compete with fierce intensity, with the gifts that we have been given...
No, I am taking it literally
Because it literally says that the product is not for me.
Fire Dan Snyder
I understand.
But it’s a Dr. Pepper commercial.
...may we compete with fierce intensity, with the gifts that we have been given...
Yes, it is?
Does that mean I shouldn’t be offended? It’s a national spotlight, and the makers of the commercial are overtly excluding my gender. I understand that it is somewhat trivial, but in some ways I find this indicative of our society as a greater whole—albeit nowadays the discrimination is more covert than this. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It also doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Fire Dan Snyder
I'm sorry.
But it’s not discrimination, it’s a silly commercial, aimed at morons who are concerned that purchasing diet soda would make them look effeminate. It’s the same thing as a truck commercial, it’s just less subtle.
...may we compete with fierce intensity, with the gifts that we have been given...
I agree with NC that the commercial is offensive.
If they had said, “Dr. Pepper 10 it’s not for gays/blacks/old people/whatever” it would be seen an offensive by a larger segment of society. It’s also a dumb move from a PR standpoint, IMO. I don’t drink Diet Pepper anyway, so it’s not changing my behavior at all.

I agree that it's offensive.
To my intelligence. My Wife has a Masters Degree in Women’s Studies, trust me, I’m all about equal rights, but it’s just a joke. It’s not mean spirited; it’s totally tongue in cheek.
Frankly, I think to the extent the joke is in poor taste, it is because it stereotypes men as to being so hyper-concerned about their masculinity they won’t purchase diet soda. And I burn through a case of diet soda in three days.
And I didn’t say the NC was not entitled to her opinion. I said I disagreed with her opinion.
...may we compete with fierce intensity, with the gifts that we have been given...
Or to put it another way...
Am I allowed to be offended that I am constantly marketed to like I am a 14 year old gorilla?
...may we compete with fierce intensity, with the gifts that we have been given...

Hey Lion fans...
Is Temple coach Steve Addazio on the short list for the Penn State job? His resume is pretty impressive. Worked under Meyer at Florida, but the rest of his coaching has been in the Northeast and Midwest. So he has strong ties to Penn State’s key areas, but also spent six years down in Florida.
by TheHumbleBuckeye on Dec 17, 2011 4:25 PM EST reply actions

Pardon my ignorance, just curious that’s all… Am I missing something? Is their bad blood there?
by TheHumbleBuckeye on Dec 17, 2011 4:30 PM EST up reply actions
Well, first off the Florida fans were very very happy to get rid of him.
I don’t know too much, I’m sure some of the other guys can enlighten you, but I do NOT like the guy. Just something about him. I really liked Golden, but when Addazio took over, the whole tone of the Temple program was more arrogance and less hard work. My opinion.
Fire Dan Snyder
I see.
It seems that he’s been getting results though. Three of his losses have been by four points or less. Now they’re domination their bowl game. This team was a few minutes from being 12-1.
7th ranked rushing offense.
15th ranked defense in yards allowed per game.
3rd in scoring defense.
17th in sacks.
24th in turnover margin (only turned it over 12 times all year).
13th in net punting.
Sounds like Penn State’s kind of coach.

Are Wisconsin and LSU.

Judging by most computer rankings...
If the MAC can win all of their bowl games (possible, but not probable) and the Big East loses all of their bowl games (possible, but again, not probable), then the MAC would almost certainly finish ahead of the Big East in conference strength in the minds of the computers.
That would be hilarious! And it bodes well for the B1G, since the MAC is like our little brother conference. It’s where we get our coaches and cupcake games.
